Removing hard water spots on Opti-Coat

Thanks again. Nothing like causing you own issues. I never knew that. The Opticoat keeps the looking so good I am not even sure the wax makes a difference.

How to wash a car with a foam gun

I feel like a dummy today but I don't get those kinds of suds either. Is it A or E that that will yield the most suds? Can't believe this is not making sense to be. I can also see from the pics I am not using enough water in the bottle. I am using DP Extreme Foam. Is there something else I...

Removing hard water spots on Opti-Coat

Thanks for the quick response. Could you elaborate on this? I was trying to give the car a little extra shine and I read that people here were doing so that is where I got the idea but if it is causing further issues I will stop but I would like to understand why if you don't mind.

Removing hard water spots on Opti-Coat

I am in South Florida and my GF has a 2014 Mazda 6. Her car stays outside during the week. Down here most sprinkler systems are on well water. I had Opticoat on her car and still get a lot of water spots just on the hood. I washed her car yesterday and noticed white overspray mostly on the front...

Anyone else hate cleaning their pad washer?

I actually thought of that but I can't take credit for it. I bought a Breville juicer and they tell you to line to waste bin with a plastic bag to make clean up easier. Good on you to come up with that on your own. I wonder if you could put a bag inside, drape it over the top and screw the top...

Anyone else hate cleaning their pad washer?

Usually I have a thick paste ring around the top lid where all the polish and wax sling off. It sticks to everything and takes some elbow grease to get all the residue off all the individual pump parts. This time the ring wasn't there and it was all together in the bottom of the bucket and on...

Anyone else hate cleaning their pad washer?

Usually I clean it right when I am done cleaning pads and it can be a nasty experience getting all the kaka out. This time I left it out for a week and I was amazed. All the polish kind of settled to the bottom and on top of the black pump body. I didn't have to use any cleaner and scrubbing as...

    Having trouble removing swirls

I just spent a couple days polishing out my GF's A4. I was using a Flex and GG with MF and LC yellow pads both at speed 6 with 105. Don't be afraid to bump it up. The clear on her Audi is very hard.

    Polishing oil smudges

You were actually the one who caught that in my other thread. That is exactly what it looks like.

    Polishing oil smudges

I wouldn't doubt that in my case but we had pro detailers working on the 928 and it fooled them also. It's just so odd the MF does nothing but a finger works. I'm wondering if a foam pad would work because it's more grabby?

    Polishing oil smudges

For those who read my Audi swirl thread, I witnessed this very same problem last night at the Autogeek garage. We were taking final pics of Louie's 928 when I noticed a spot that looked like a smudge in the shape of an arrowhead by the drivers headlight. I grabbed a MF but it wouldn't wipe off...

    Audi swirl help needed!!!

You are correct. The problem was MF wasn't wiping it away but my finger could however, PROBLEM SOLVED!!!!!!! I was getting more aggressive with worse results. I went the other way. I put some PO85 on a black finishing pad lowered my speed from 6 to 4 with lighter pressure and YAHOO!!!!!!! I...

    Audi swirl help needed!!!

OK here is an update. I tried 101 on a Megs. MF pad rather than the Opt. pad. Something else is going on. I don't think I have swirls. It looks more like a haze. 50/50 IPA doesn't seem to wipe it off, Griots pre wax cleaner doesn't either but if I rub my finger on it, it seems to disappear. I am...

    Audi swirl help needed!!!

At this point I think I am making it worse. I can see the swirls with the Brinkman now. As I said it looks closest to the rotary buffer marks. Kind of like the hazy glare you get on your windshield from bad wipers. Smaller sections, slow movement, clean pad after every section, 3 drops of 105...

    Audi swirl help needed!!!

HI MIKE, From your pics what it most looks like is rotary buffer swirls (holo's) but the moon, sun and stars have to be aligned just right to see it. I followed Dave's suggestion and narrowed my working area down to 12x12 and rewetting per the KBM. I am back to the MF and cleaning after every...

    Audi swirl help needed!!!

The only thing I am not doing is priming the pad after the initial prime. I thought I read you are only suppose to prime once even after cleaning. I am moving slooooooow in small sections. Does it sound like I am just not leveling the paint or am I putting new swirls in? I am just lost at this...

    Audi swirl help needed!!!

This is an 02 A4. I have been working on this car for days wanting to Opti-coat it. The car has a lot of paint chips so I figured to get it the best I can and Opti it so it will stay that way for a while. The roof was really bad, swirled, oxidized and now it looks amazing so I decided to do the...
