Be ready for a very hard clear. I have a 06 GTI and the clear is pretty hard. I also use SIP/Nano combo and has worked well for me but will be changing up the pads that I use coming this next detail. I use WGDGS and looks great on red but am going to try dodo orange crush and fuzion as well.

I recently did that on my car, i had a few deep scratches i wet sanded. I also filled in some chips with touch up paint, wet sanded the blob down and then used SIP over it. Cant even tell were the chips were now.

Just goes to show you its better to just do it at home. But I am guilty of using a car wash bay to just soak it with soap and hi-pressure wash to get salt and what not off in the winter. But nothing touches the paint.

Thanks, time is not a issue as i am off for the summer from classes and not nothing better to do. I could juts do one pass of the polish on the car and the next day just do a white down or hose off and start with the next and so on...

I was thinking about 85RD but I would really like to not buy another polish as I am trying to keep the cost down. Would getting some white 4" pads+backing plate be better off to use with SIP then follow up with 106FF which the 5.5 pads? Just being limited by what I can spend makes it...

I was thinking of doing the hood with just 106 w/ a white pad to see how it comes out. Would you be able to go straight to a wax from 106FF with a white pad or do i need the SSR1 or a follow up.

I have used the older SSR1, pink formula, for jeweling with a blue pad...I dont know if it is the best but it does make a differance.

So I got some carbon fiber mirror housing for my 2006 GTI MkV and they were used and would like to clean them up a bit. I do not know if they are gel coated, clear coated, or polyurethane only. Is there a way to tell, or is there a safe polish that you can use on them. I do not need anything...

mm when i went to Lowes they had all the diff. grades of steel wool in the paint section/hardware/cleaning (dont rmr exactly)

wow...that is an amazing job. Whoever did it before did not know how to do it at ALL. I mean by no means am i a pro, but when i first did a detail to my car i didnt hack at all. (It was good for a first time haha for me) But WOW...all i can say is good job!
