Product advice on replacing Opti-Seal & OCW routine

I loved Opti products. Switched to Blackfire One Step to clean and lightly polish then BF SiO2 Spray Sealant. Durability is 3 to 6 months depending on conditions. BF wash & wax in between for incredible shine.

Getting BF One Step out of pads

Wet the pad then hit it with Palmolive, FULL STRENGTH, massage the soap all the way in, let sit for a couple minutes then flush with cold tap water thoroughly, squeezing until zero suds. There's a YouTube video on this.

    blackfire hybrid liquid wax

I have both BF SIO2 and BF Hybrid LW and to be honest still can't decide which I prefer. SIO2 glows more, like you've covered the car in glass so the reflection is amazing. The Hybrid LW gives off more of a cozy warm look / feeling, I guess from the wax. After a year with SIO2, I'll be going...

When to stop buffing - Or - How far should you go to remove swirls and scratches?

Still, for most folks RIDS are a part of "normal wear and tear". RIDS = Random Isolated Deeper Scratches

When to stop buffing - Or - How far should you go to remove swirls and scratches?

All vehicles especially daily drivers inevitably accumulate RIDS, over time, and this is true despite (or perhaps because of) an ultra-religious devotion to paint perfection. But be not discouraged, fellow autogeeks, for there is another auto-altruism to be mindful of: at some point in the life...

    AIO Cleaner/Wax Users

The problem with the traditional approach - "a big spring detail then just wash & dry the rest of the year" - is that after a few months the paint finish will need a good cleaning and possibly some light polishing, as well. One-step AIO's provide the best time saving, cost effective interim...

One step recommendation for a newbie?

Exactly what I do, using orange foam pads for OneStep and liquid wax or sealant by hand.

    Wolfgang Uber All-in-one disappointment.

BF One Step will not disappoint. Got excellent results with a Rupes Big Foot and yellow foam polishing pads.

    California duster and ceramics

Used to have a duster. Was good for quickie, almost touchless sweeps to feather off recently detailed paint. But results were never satisfying as some "dust" inevitably sticks to the paint tempting one to do a second sweep and brush a bit harder, or wipe off spots using quick detailer, which led...

    Two Weeks Out!!!

"Anyone have any grand ideas on how to convince a four year old to get out of the pool, that would be greatly appreciated." I'll share what works for me, but do note that some might consider this bribery, and it is habit forming: When ready to go, stand poolside and loudly inquire: "Anyone up...

When to stop buffing - Or - How far should you go to remove swirls and scratches?

Super helpful advice, especially for the newcomers and the chronically disappointed. Relentless (and amatuerish) pursuit of the perfect detail usually ends in anger and frustration. Over time one acquires a certain wisdom and appreciation that detailing is more art than science, and an...

    Need recommend a WOWA sealant?

Yes. The pump sprayer on my 1-year old OS gave out last time I used it. Thought I must have dropped it but can't recall ever doing that.

Need a new wash mitt/pad. Input please

Tried the Lake Country Wash Wedge, reviewed here: http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/product-reviews/74543-review-lake-country-wash-wedge.html It is a great alternative to MF and very safe.

Optimum Spray Wax after weekly wash-overkill?

OS every few months for base sealant + weekly washes with ONR + alternate OCW and OID. Applying OCW to much, or too often, causes streaking. OID adds polymers and enhances gloss without this problem. You can always tell when OCW is needed, or is being applied in correct dosage, as it flashes off...

    Needing some advice.

    - As for flat rate vs. percentage, this is something you need to figure out but flat rate usually leads to fewer conflicts. - best advice I can offer is to document the terms, in writing, to avoid disputes down the road. Keep it simple and short term to start off.

    Needing some advice.

Not in the business but as an attorney can offer the following: - Your Fla LLC can probably register to do business in TX then get business license and permits. - you prolly need ur own liability insurance policy. - not sure about water issues but such issues usually are resolved when securing...

    Most regretted detailing product purchase

The Cobra Waffle Weave Glass Towel. Supposedly great for glass because "Microfiber is designed to never shed lint". In fact they do leave a thin carpet of white lint, always.
