New clear coat fx technology question

Personally I love buffing a car and so am hesitant as to whether I want to work for a company that primarily seeks to use this stuff in replacement to traditional buffing.

Here's another one with the spray applied to chipped paint. This one is more impressive and looks like a new paint job. What do you all think? [/IMG]

New clear coat fx technology question

Here's a picture I found from a company that uses the technology. Not that impressive but maybe worth it for some from cost point of view compared to repainting?? [/IMG]

A few pictures of the fx clear coat spray system at work instead of cutting and buffing. These pics are from another website. See clear-fx.com for more. Is this the way forward? Can it replace traditional cutting and buffing? A genuine question I am pondering but I do prefer using a buffer.

New clear coat fx technology question

As I understand it the quality might not be quite as good as polishing but takes less than half the time it would to buff and therefore can be offered at a much cheaper price to still get a decent finish. The website also talks about how buffing is reducing the clear coat protection while the fx...

New clear coat fx technology question

Hey guys have you come across this website - clear-fx.com? Just wondered what your thoughts on it are? I have a potential job offer to work in the auto detailing department at a company that uses this clear coat restoration technology. They say that it's much better than buffing and polishing...

Buffing aluminium with a Porter cable DA

Hey guys I have an aluminium boat to buff this weekend. Will my Porter cable and an ornate ccs cutting pad work followed by a polishing stage?? I have seen different pads used for buffing aluminium (wheel) but I don't own one. Is there a big difference between using a compound like m105 and a...

    Buffer trails on aluminum grrr.

Hey guys I have an aluminium boat to buff this weekend. Will my Porter cable and a cutting oad work followed by a polishing stage?? Is there a big difference between using a compound like m105 and a specific paste made for aluminium? Is it worth also wet sanding a little beforehand?

Buffing out swirls with rotary buffer

Hey guys I am having trouble finishing up swirl free with the rotary buffer. Yesterday I worked on a black car. I cut it with a yellow medium foam pad, medium compound, 2200 rpm. I then buffed it with a blue soft polishing pad, polish, 1800rpm. I then finished with a hand wax. The car was...

    Controlling a rotary buffer!

This is really helpful, thank you. Another question - am I likely to leave swirls etc if I am only using a light cutting pad with a GS1 leveling polish (not compound)? I assume it's possible but less likely compared to a compound/medium cutting pad stage?

    Controlling a rotary buffer!

Thanks a lot guys. I work for a detail shop where they only use rotary machines and I have been used to DA. So they don't really offer smaller pads for the rotary, but wish they did. I have to say though the finish the rotary leaves does seem to be of a higher sharper gloss finish then the DA...

    Controlling a rotary buffer!

Hi guys. I have recently started using a rotary buffer (Dewalt, 8" pads). However I have found controlling the buffer in smooth straight lines very difficult. It's like the buffer has a mind of its own at times and will try and go off in different directions. It will also tend to grip the paint...

    Wiping off polish

Generally m105 compound is quite hard to rub off. But just the constant action of wiping off the products adds to the labor. I guess I am asking this question as I have seen microfiber bonnets advertised that can be used to wipe of product. Does this work well as an alternative to hand wiping...

    Wiping off polish

Hey guys, am just wondering what the quickest way is to remove/wipe off compound, polish and wax. This side of detailing can be quite hard work when done by hand using a microfibre towel. Would a microfibre bonnet on a 5.5inch DA pad work with a buffer? What do you recommend? Thanks! Mark

    Interior carpet cleaning problem

Thanks guys. Would you dilute the Folex if using it for the whole car? And perhaps use it concentrated for specific stains? It seems like I really need to soak the carpet to get good results... is that right? I went back today at some of the muddy stains that resulted from yesterday's work and...
