    Engine Detailing

I follow Justin's lead and just cover the cold air intake (a shopping bag and masking tape works fine). If plugs and wires etc are exposed, maybe cover them, although I haven't for the last 35 years. And a pressure washer is the BEST. Especially if you have one with variable pressure. Just use a...

    Subwoofer?

Infinity also makes a nice little unit called the BassLink II. It's about 1 cubic ft in size and is self powered (built in amp and crossover). It takes line (RCA) or speaker level inputs and you can get wiring kits for many car models. You can find them for around $200 on ebay and the adapter...

    Need new Tires

Reddwarf - Additionally on the A/Ss: After 32K miles I had to replace the rears. The fronts still had over half the tread left. (245/40 rear 240/35 front). But replaced all four to keep them matched. Car came with Conti Sports (bought it with 35 k on it) and I had a blow out the Day I bought...

    Need new Tires

Reddwarf - I had a set of Pilot Sport A/S on my 328ci that I just had to replace. I got over 30K from them with no problems. They were a bit loud but great overall. However... I just replaced them with the PS2s 6 weeks ago. Huge difference!!!! The ride is MUCH smoother and quieter. And handling...

    Ridgid 4gal. 5.0 HP shopvac

I picked up a 12 gallon 5.5 HP ShopVac at Lowes a week ago. What's great about it is the motor comes out with a 2 gallon tank and second filter attached! The 2 gal fits perfect on the back seat floor and takes 1.5 inch hose. If you also need a large tank (I do some woodworking too) this is a...

    engine detail products?

Thanks Sparkie. Do you know how the 303 would work on the black plastic exterior trim? I used to use Lexol but can't take the oily residue anymore. But the black isn't as black as it used to be with the Megs. Though I still like it on the interior (or at least till I get some Wolfgang).

    engine detail products?

I just detailed my engine using a pressure washer for the first time. Fun! It has variable pressure from 400 to 1600 lbs, so it's easy to use on everything! Great when washing for getting into all kinds of places. Anyway, I detailed the engine with Megs Plastic and Vinyl and used PBoys QW on the...

    Halogen Lights

I found mine at WalMart a couple nights ago. 30 bucks. 2 500watt with stand. Works great. There's a little tab on each light frame that keeps them from pointing down too far. Flatten it with pliers and you can aim the lights almost straight down.

    Engine Detailing

I haven't done a proper detail on my engine compartment yet but am going to in the next couple weeks. A couple questions. The paint in the engine bay isn't polished at all. Do I need to try and hand polish and buff to get it looking really good? Or will something like the Poorboys EX sealant...

    Aluminum trin scratches

Yes Sparkie, it seems they are too deep for polishing. I found a re-finishing kit for aluminum trim that I may try out soon. It strips, then sands with 1000 grit and then re-seals the finish. When I try it I'll post pics of the process. Thanks, Tam

Diamondite vs the AG Pro glass kit

Yes, definitely! Like I said, at night it is like the glass isn't there. Even headlight glare is almos nil. I even rolled down the drivers window and did A B comparisons while cruisin. The glas is truly as clear as not there. Even in daytime it's quite noticeable. Just the little pits that catch...

Diamondite vs the AG Pro glass kit

Hi Killer, Maybe I misunderstood what the product was capable of. It did clean and smooth the glass very well. I was hoping that it would also smooth the edges of the pitting so as to have them not show as much. Can the Diamondite kit do this? If not, then how is it different from the Pro Glass...

    Aluminum trin scratches

Hi I've got a couple areas on my window trim that are scratched a bit. I tried some XMT #3 on a 4" spot pad with a PC carefully with no change. Just a bit smoother. I've attached a pic, not sure how easy it is to see them after reducing the file size. I've never attached a pic before. Any...

Diamondite vs the AG Pro glass kit

Hi All, I got the AG pro glass kit two weeks ago and now I see everyone raving about the Diamondite systems. How is the Dimondite different from the Pro Glass kit? I used the Pro Kit on my windshield, which has a lot of little nicks from road gravel, sand, etc. I was dissappointed at first...

Met Ray Bradbury Last Night @ a library

Absatively not at all, Lauren. :o Just wanted to clarify since I am having such a good time with everybody on this forum (in addition to learning a lot!). A lot of friendly jousting going on. Too much of the world is way to PC for me (politically correct, not Porter-Cable;) ). Besides, once...

    Really don't like the ShMitt

I just got the Schmitt (wash and wheel) about a week ago and used it for the first time a few days ago. Had no problem with grabbing the paint. I used Megs GC as well. I always use a fair amount of GC, about 3 to 4 ounces to three gallons water. Actually, I really liked it! Especially the...

Met Ray Bradbury Last Night @ a library

With moderate reluctance, Lauren, I admit to remembering when Fahrenheit 451 was first published in Playboy. Hef published quite a few Sci-Fi authors' stories in serial form back then. I always read Playboy for the articles;) . Though I wasn't aware of the communistic link at the time. And...
