    Decibel Rating of Various Polishers

Good thread, I work with a Rupes and microfiber pad quite a bit. Compressed air is by far the best way to clean your pad after each section, but depending on the psi and air nozzle you are using, this action is most likely even louder than the polisher. I started using ear protection for this...

Any additional attachments for the Mytee Firebird?

Have you tried wrapping a microfiber around the small attachment that has about 5 holes in it? I've used that, and it works pretty good. I took the clip off and just hold the microfiber by hand.

Mobile Detailing Going Stationary for Winter

A thimble is a metal piece the vent piping passes through to maintain your clearances from combustible material. I was not 100% sure on my local codes regarding gas pipe venting, so I had my HVAC friend install the vent for me, I did the rest.

Mobile Detailing Going Stationary for Winter

I did the same thing, went from mobile to detailing in my 2 1/2 car garage for the winter. For heat I bought a Modine Hot Dawg 45,000 BTU. The vent can go vertical or horizontal. Of course you need a thimble where the vent passes through the wall or ceiling. For lighting I went with...

    2015 Denali Meets AC DoubleCoat

Yup, when they install those weights they damage the clear coat and then the salt can find its way in over the winter and oxidize the wheels really fast. Game over... Very nice looking truck

    Etched wheel, any ideas?

Since they are winter wheels, looks like the salt found its way under the clear coat and oxidized the aluminum and is still spreading just like rust would do. Are they GM wheels? Its extremely common in the salt belt. As for a fix, my guess is they have to be sanded, polished, and re-cleared.

Do paint safe bike racks exist?

Rear hitch is the way to go. And then if your like me your also worried about the paint on your bike. 1up USA is the best bike rack available IMO. The rack only grasp the tires so it will never scratch your bike up. I really like mine, so fast and easy to load.

    Marine gel coat tips

Hi Marc, have you ever tried Meguiars Marine/RV #91 Power Cut Compound? I find it easier to use than 105 on gel coat. From what ive read, its basically the same as 105 but formulated just for gel coats. I did a 26' sea-ray with it, and had some great results.

HD high pressure line for mytee wand

Good morning everyone!! I have been using my mytee lite II all spring and summer and it has been very reliable for me. I say I use it 3-4 times a week. The only problem I have right now is the high pressure line for the wand developed a kink in it. It still works but I would like to replace...

PPE for Meguiars D140 Wheel Brightener

I always use gloves when detailing and have been using a 3m particle mask 8511 for bad interiors and non-acid wheel cleaners. I picked up some D140 only for the most neglected wheels. Should a respirator be used with D140, vapor and particle? Or will my 3m particle mask be ok so I'm not...

    Which da for sore hands?

Rupes, but if your serious about the vibes you should use the rupes pads too. The rupes pads run with the least vibs.

    OPC on paint

I only use OPC on paint for bugs on the front bumper and mirrors that are really hard to get off. I usually split the bumper in 3 parts and work in sections to minimize the time OPC is on the paint. Never once had a problem and I believe I've use it on Honda single stage white.

    Car Wash Mats

Meanwhile, large corporations like PB are allowed to dump tons and tons of ammonia, mercury and heavy metal sludge into southern lake Michigan. Crazy isn't it?

    Bicyclist Rant

That why I love mountain biking. No texting drivers to worry about. Just you and the trail. People will get fumed over anything these days. If I take a corner to slow in my detail van, people are mad at me. lol

Acura leather still looks dirty after using Lexol Cleaner

I've used Optimum Power Clean at 4:1 on Acura MDX leather and it came out clean as new each time. One of them the leather was light gray and very dirty. I used OPC and a super soft cyclo brush on my PC, worked great.
