Products used on Derick Samson's 1952 Mercedes 170S for Ridler Competition

Mike, It really is a fun show to watch, and I appreciate you pointing out what you did. So many shows (and Velocity Channel is probably the biggest culprit) are nothing more than 30 minute infomercials for whatever sponsor is paying. As long as the products perform as advertised, and I am...

Blackfire Wet Diamond Polymer Spray as a drying aid?

That's what I figured. I thought I'd buy a bottle and make my life easier. I just added another step to my washing process!

Blackfire Wet Diamond Polymer Spray as a drying aid?

I have a bottle of this on the way for my BFWD sealed car - I typically use Meguiar's 155 as a drying aid - can I just use the Blackfire spray, or would I be better off to dry the car completely and then apply the Blackfire?

Sometimes you just need to bust out a rotary! (96 Mustang Cobra)

A 1996 Mystic Cobra, one of 1999 built! One of my favorite Mustangs ever - you really did the paint justice. Great work! Although I didn't think they made any convertibles in that color... Edit: maybe that's just black and I am seeing reflections.

    Blackfire Users...

Which pad do you recommend for applying Gloss Enhancing Polish? Details: this will be after applying M205 with an orange/white Lake Country pad, depending on which it needs, and before applying Blackfire Wet Diamond All Finish Paint Protection, either by hand or with a red pad. I am leaning...

Which polisher should I get next?

Ok, I've had the same PC for over 10 years now. It's getting up there and ready for retirement. What should I get next? A new PC? Rupes? Griots? Chemical Guys? My priorities: - I want to be able to use the same pads I currently have, Lake Country 5.25" and 3". If I have to change backing...

    What am I doing wrong?

So if I was looking for a comparable product that is easier to work with, what would you recommend? And with what pads?

    What am I doing wrong?

In reverse order... I am in central Illinois. I have used a machine polisher several times, and gotten decent to good results. Never great. I am using three big dots on the pad. Very little pressure, and VERY slow (think Junkman) arm speed. I have washed and clayed the car.

    What am I doing wrong?

Hi, a little help here please. I am polishing my car by machine, and having three basic issues. 1. The deeper (relatively, not deep enough to catch my fingernail, not even close) scratches are not coming out. 2. I think I am putting scratches in with the buffer. Small, corkscrew shapes. The...

    Does anyone still Zaino?

As the OP, I apologize. I was under the impression this was someplace I could visit to get honest opinions and advice about ALL things detailing, not just what's sold on the site.

    Does anyone still Zaino?

Corvette guys do love their Zaino, almost as much as their nylon Corvette jackets. All kidding aside, back when I was a Mustang guy, I would get a good base coat going, then wash the car weekly and Z5 it weekly/every other week. That's what I planned on for the new car. So durability isn't a...

    Does anyone still Zaino?

I didn't realize there was a durability increase. I've used ZFX before (when it was first released around 2003 if I recall), but all the hassle that went with mixing in the little bottles, cleaning the little bottles right after, etc., was getting to be a pain. Went with AIO to eliminate that.

    Does anyone still Zaino?

I do to the side windows. Front and rear get Griot's Glass Sealant. But that may change in the near future, I am not sure I dig the Griot's.

    Does anyone still Zaino?

I didn't bother with the ZFX. The only advantage I saw was waiting between coats...I prefer to wait between coats. It gives me more time with the car before I have to return it to the missus. :)

    Does anyone still Zaino?

Thanks! AIO is paid for and delivered. This winter I will be re-doing my Viper, which is 13 years old and swirl city. Looking at CCS pads Mezerna, and Wolfgang for that one, but the immediate priority is the new car. It gets driven daily and I want to keep it looking good. So far it's had...

    Does anyone still Zaino?

Hi everyone, new in town, but not new to detailing...just to detailing correctly. I learned that for nearly 10 years, I have been using my PC wrong! Moving on...I have a brand new car that was not dealer detailed, I watched them pull the plastic wrapping off the paint and everything! This is...
