    Flex 3401 2 weeks on

Thank you! That's really kind to offer. The issue is actually my work place, not customs or anything. Appreciate the kind offer though

    Flex 3401 2 weeks on

Yes I did catch that. Unfortunately, as I mentioned earlier, I can't get a hold of those pads in Ontario so I will be making the best with what I have for now. Thanks for all the help!

    Flex 3401 2 weeks on

I appreciate the extra help! I'm using 6.5" pads with no difficulty now. Only trouble I'm finding is they break apart easier than the ccs pads did. I think next time I'll skip the hydrotech and go with ccs again. I mAy try some 5" pads as well, although in my mind that sounds so tiny! I can see...

    Flex 3401 2 weeks on

Couldn't agree more. The trouble with dealerships is they tend to rely on local distributors who only bring in certain products. So we have maybe 3 options. Luckily one can order in other products, just a long wait.

    Flex 3401 2 weeks on

To be fair there are some good products, but none as good or as good a match as the menzerna

Some good, some not. Shop brands like car brite, huttons, and some meguiars. This is a huge step up.

    Flex 3401 2 weeks on

Appreciate the encouragement! I got the SF4000 because I was worried I would need the extra cut coming straight from the FG400. But the FG400 finishes extremely well,so I might just try the sf4500 next time.

I would highly suggest the Menzerna! It's worth every penny. Even at regular price, it's better value than most other products as you won't use as much or need as many different products. Good luck!

    Flex 3401 2 weeks on

Well, my first post regarding the Flex was not completely positive. It was hard switching from a rotary to the 3401, the vibrations, the ergonomics and new pads were all hard to get used to. Two weeks in and I have a new appreciation. The biggest change was changing the products I've been using...

    Am I crazy?

It feels like there is a lot of strong feelings about auto geek as an online resource. I've learned a lot from here over the years, only recently have I joined as a member. It's one of many great resources that should be used, but I would be worried if it was the only one. Not because the...

    Am I crazy?

By having a shop I don't mean literally having a physical shop. I guess I should have said having a business. In these times it's not easy to have a physical shop and only offer detailing. By saying I'm sure there's many who do excellent work without having a shop suggests there is no...

    Am I crazy?

Just to be thorough, I still don't think Pshiny is wrong. There is a lot of 'professionals' that shouldn't be advertising themselves that way or touching customers paint. There's also a lot of hobbyists that should stay that way. On the flip side I'm sure there's a lot of people on here who...

    Am I crazy?

I agree! There's no reason to stop or shy away. As in most industries, its all about pushing yourself to try new things and continue learning through all available options. I think its good that OP is only offering the services they feel confident about, and even better that they want to...

    Am I crazy?

It's not necessary, but there is a lot that can be learned outside the web. I've met many in the business who have worked for 15-20, even 30 years and still make beginners mistakes. To continue learning you have to be teachable, at all stages. I wet sanded my 2 year old VW the first year I...

    Am I crazy?

There's a lot of good information out there on forums, youtube, et cetera but I have to agree with Pureshine. You can only learn so much without having someone teach and mentor you. I'm not saying you won't do good work, and chances are you will be doing as good or better work than those who...

    Possible Job Change

It's certainly not always greener on the other side. This going from high end dealership to private and back to dealerships again. I've made $16hr at most. It my next home has a shop I will likely start doing private work as it improves the margins a lot, but honestly I would just scale back hours.

    Best pads for my 3401?

I'm locally limited to CCS or hydro. Maybe I will make a big purchase in the future to justify the price over the border. For now, I'll rest easy that the LC pads I have now are working as intended. I'm getting in some Menzerna next week which I'm very excited about. I'm hoping for 75% of the...

    Best pads for my 3401?

Whats the difference between the hydrotech pads and the hybrid? Is it worth it for me to buy across the border for them or just stick with the CCS and hydrotech?

    First day with 3401 impressions

I've been on speed 5 for compounding, I'll try 4 and see what I get. I find the vibration worse at lower speeds, I put the handle back on and have better control.
