Leopard Spots (finger marks) or Failing Paint

Well, I just went and hit a test spot on the hood with a little m205 by hand. It clears right off. I'll redo the whole hood. I have some M21 and M07 that I'll slather on there too. We'll see how long it holds.

No, there was no color transfer.

Leopard Spots (finger marks) or Failing Paint

I have a 2001 BMW M5 that I bought about a year ago. The hood appeared to have some oxidation. Over the winter, I clayed and used some 105 and 205 and followed up with some Zaino. It looked great. This car seldom gets driven and sits in the garage. After driving it a couple of times this...

    Junk On Pads

A follow up to this thread. Once I got the 205 replaced, the work went well. Once I was done with the car and pulled it out into the sun, I could see where I went too hard on a couple of the hard edges on the passenger side doors. I now have some very thin spots. Not exactly sure how I...

    Junk On Pads

Just tossed it out. Bought some more at HF. Working like a charm now. No amount of shaking would revive the old stuff.

    Junk On Pads

Holy smokes. Just when you think you are getting ahead... Apparently my 205 has gone bad. And has been bad this whole time. I hadn't used it for probably a year. I was going back over the car today. I have my 105 working well now (a little dusty but ok). So, now I am checking my technique...

    Junk On Pads

Thanks, Mike. On a separate note, although I have ordered plenty of product from AGO, I never really paid attention to where you guys are at. Turns out I was just around the corner from you about a month ago. I was visiting a company, EMC / Florida RF Labs. You've probably seen their sign...

    Junk On Pads

OK. Success. Too much product. Too little pressure. Maybe a tad too fast on my passes. Bumped up the speed on the PC. Back to 105. Much easier wipe off now. Far, far less residual haze.

    Junk On Pads

What a pain. Just cant seem to get rid of the haze. Should I just proceed with M07 and then my M21? Or should I wipe down with IPA and inspect. Or should I wash with some dawn to strip this back to clean base?

    Damn OCD

Doing our black daily driver (well, been park for a while now) car right now. It has terrible paint to start with. Combine that with trying to get that deep black back = going nuts. Solution? Just buy more product! After a week of working on it, Wife says she will just catch it on fire if I...

    Junk On Pads

Well, ordered a LED swirl chaser and it arrived this afternoon. What a bad idea! Found that pretty much all of my work with 105 wasn't very good. When I was applying it, I kept having it dry after just a few passes. Tried chasing with spritzes of water but it just sucked. Its been...

    Junk On Pads

Yes, indeed it does! I have two things happening here. 1) black single stage paint. 2) dirt embedded in the paint. The difficulty is being able to tell which is which. I have completed the compounding with 105 and orange pads. I have moved on to 205 and white pads. Still pulling up a...

    Junk On Pads

Thanks for that information. I need to do some more research on single stage paint. Maybe some questions can be answered here? Is "new" (in my case 1999) single stage paint different than "old" (as shown in the example you posted)? Can the newer paint take more abuse by mother nature and...

    Junk On Pads

I am shocked to learn that these older Lexus and Toyota's could have single stage paint. Never would have thought it. From what I am now reading, I am almost certain that this is a single stage paint job. It was common for their black paints. I truly am blown away by this revelation. So now...

    Junk On Pads

I am working on a black 1999 Lexus ES300 that has never seen a paint correction that I am aware of. We have had the car for about 10 years. It sits outside and gets washed infrequently. My issue is that when compounding with a PC a lot of junk (dirt?) is coming up on my pads. Before...
