For whatever reason, the piece in the original hose is a bit wide and won't fit the openings of the M22 adapters. Didn't fit the Home Depot M22 quick disconnects or the adapter that came with the Apache.

Yea, typically a few scrapes of the nail will get it lifted/rolled up before peeling. Maybe previous owner didn't add enough coats to the point where it's thick.

I've used plasti dip and all you have to do is expose an area and peel it. Plasti dip is spray on rubber.
