    Clear Coat Failure

Im looking at a BMW with what is obviously a failed clear coat. Looks like a sunburn on the hood, roof and trunk. It's not the worse Ive seen but it is noticeable in comparison to the fenders and doors which have impeccable paint. I tried compounding the hood with ultinate compound and cutting...

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

how so? I am using car pro essence EXACTLY as it is instructed on their site: Paint correct + Essence polish + cquartz. And it doesn't work at all. I think that is valuable information. You aren't supposed to ipa essence.

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

essence is a terrible product on its own. It doesn't correct at all. and it creates a bunch of dust that gets stuck in your clear coat. I can't believe that they sell this crap. its a joke.

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

Kind of a really late update on this. But Ive been busy. Anyways I recently finially polished my car. I didn't do a massively good job. It was sort of a 1 step polish then cquartz. I did not end up using carpro essence. I hate it. It is so powdery and becomes dusts almost immediate and embeds...

    Spot Free Water system

Actually, you'd probably use less than 10 gallons. Just get a sunjoe or similar PW. It will consume about 1.1-1.7 gpm it doesnt take that long to rinse down a car. Think about the time you once spent at a self serve car wash station... you're probably out of there in as few as 7 minutes of...

    Spot Free Water system

Yes you are right, conceptually I was off. But practically, my point stands. You can wash a car with less water, hence less resin using a pw.

    Spot Free Water system

Rasky, it depends. going from 4gpm to 1.7 gpm is a major difference in consumption. You get more than 100% more DI water using a PW than the trigger that comes with the CR. Honestly, any electric pressure washer would do, you can get one for like 120 bucks or less. Its worth it, because it will...

    Spot Free Water system

It all depends on your water hardness. In SOCAL its like 450ppm, in arizona it may be worse. Just depends. The water hardness + gpm rating determine resin consumption. I did all those calculations for a diyer for home cars. If you run a shop, I would use DI water for everything except for the...

    Spot Free Water system

Please lookup my previous posts on deionized water systems, to get a detailed breakdown of what you are in for. But in short, it is the BEST thing I have ever bought. Get the CR spotless. AND a pressure washer. You NEED a pressure washer with the cr spotless. A normal garden hose uses 10-20...

    haze on windshield

if it happens when you run ac/air its because of humidity. maybe air is escaping and fogging up your glass. If its like that all of the time, could be dirty. oil, or somekind of residue. clean it very well from any kind of product you may have previously used on it.

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

Thanks for all the responses. The reason why this idea pops into my mind is because there are already 3 products that do something similar: 1. kamikaze clear coat 2. wolf gangs glaze and shine 3. Carpro essence I just ordered carpro essence, and cquartz and am giving this a try since its the...

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

Yes sir, I just learned of this product and apparently its new, just released a few months ago. I guess im jumping ship from opticoat to cquartz now. It used to be that either one was a wash, opticoat was more durable but cquartz had a bit more gloss. But now, Im definately giving cquartz a...

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

yes sir, I think I would stick with the most durable sealant I have which is probably nu finish. I think I also have one of meguars glaze. If I had to choose, I think a silicone based sealant would be the best choice, since its similar to the sio2 glass coatings (correct me if im wrong). Also...

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

kamikaze artificial clear coat. This is pretty much what inspired this thought. On autopia or detailworld (i forget which), someone used wolf gangs nano sealant with cquartz and got a similar result with lasting performance. Im not looking for 3 yr protection, but if I can get 1.5 yrs with...

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

But then the sealant\wax wont hide the defects right? Which is what I am looking for. I saw this glass coating its japanese, used by esoteric detail. I wont mention the name since we aren't allowed to mention things not sold by auto geek. Anyways, they sell an artificial clear coat which on...

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

I think its sealant then coating that makes the most sense, since you need the sealant\wax to have bare contact on the paint to hide all of those nagging defects, Then you add a coating on top to encapsulate the sealant. The glass coating should be the one exposed to the elements due its...

    Stacking Sealants and coatings

Im familiar with Opticoat and had it on several cars. Problem is, that on black\dark colored cars it doesnt fill in the scratches at all like a sealant\glaze\wax could. So even with my best effort at polishing, it never looks as good as wax. I know that youre supposed to do ipa prior to...
