Need advice - Oxidized Paint Correction on 1968 Dodge Charger

thanks, JohhnyO! Just read your thread. Very cool MG. So in your pic, the test patches are to the right and look redder/less white? That's Griot's wax and the Meguiar's 20? EDIT: I now see they are circles and look whitish. Right now my car is heavily soaked in its 3rd/4th round of Meguiar's...

gotcha, thanks 2Black1s! I'll do a test patch with some protectants too. I definitely have a good 303 product I use on the vinyl top. I'll also do another round or two of Meguair's 7 and try Yellow Wax per TMQ. Re: the first edit of your post. Yeah, I think the buffing on the quarter panel...

I’d say this is a good ad for the Mike Phillips Meguiar’s #7 rubdown technique!

Thanks for all the responses everyone. Much appreciated. Yeah I absolutely hear what you’re saying, 2black1s. I’ve know this car has needed body and paint since I bought it in 2001 so have been very happy to breathe some new life into it with the Meguiar’s 7. By protectant/armor all, did you...

Need advice - Oxidized Paint Correction on 1968 Dodge Charger

I did two full rubdowns, three on the driver side, which wasn’t super wet during wipe off until the third. Perhaps I’ll do a few more? Seems to look really good upon wipe off.

Need advice - Oxidized Paint Correction on 1968 Dodge Charger

Thanks, much appreciated! Yeah, that makes sense. I was thinking of trying Meguiar’s 21 Synthetic Sealant of their Yellow Wax by hand or trying once more with Blackfire One Step and DA. I wonder if something like Rupes P800 protective sealant or even a ceramic coating would be worth it. At the...

Need advice - Oxidized Paint Correction on 1968 Dodge Charger

Hey guys! Just did a test panel with the DA, orange griot pad, and Blackfire One Step. Six section passes. It's doesn't look THAT much different than the paint did after Meguiar's 7 rubdown. I'm probably going too fast with the polisher, adding too much One Step, or doing something else wrong...

Need advice - Oxidized Paint Correction on 1968 Dodge Charger

Okay awesome, thanks Mike and Tom! Yup, makes perfect sense. Yeah, that video on the Meguair's #7 rubdown is great. I'm very impressed by the #7. I need to get the car out in the sunlight, but it seems to have removed the white micro marring you can see in this before video? Is that possible...

Need advice - Oxidized Paint Correction on 1968 Dodge Charger

Gotcha, thanks Tom! Oddly enough the passenger side of the car feels a little wetter than the driver side. Maybe I’ll add more Meguiar’s to the driver side. I wonder if it has anything to to with the fact that I’d already done some half-hearted buffing with a DA on the passenger side, but the...

Need advice - Oxidized Paint Correction on 1968 Dodge Charger

The paint looks amazing after the Meguiar’s #7 rubdown. Wonder if it will stay this nice or revert in a few days as the oils dry or dissipate? I suppose I should wait a few days and take it out in the sunlight, but is there a world where I leave well enough alone and not do the 3D...
