The plastic plug is easy to lose (at least for me). An easy fix is to add liquid rubber for tool handles on the end of the brush. Dipped the brush with about 5 coats of it on the end and it has lasted for a year now. Other than that, it is the best that I have used.

Sciontest, Natty's blue over WDGPS is a great combo that I have used a lot. Another to try is Natty's red. I don't think they can be beat for the money.

Pearl, Try using 800 grit and if that does not work, 600 grit to eliminate the clear. Use an eraser similar to a pink pearl as a sanding block and try to work just where the clear is until it is gone. You can tell by watching closely. Once the clear is gone, finish the way you described before...
