02 Passat done with Meguiar's basic line.

Hi, this is my first post.

Yesterday, I decided to wash and detail my father's car, a 2002 Volkswagen Passat.

The lack of a high pressure washer forced my to do the first step on a self-wash-station, just to get of the worst.

The result of NXT Wash and Clay:

Already starting to look good

The rims were terrible! My father always says that rims are for show offs... But still... He should clean them..
This picture is after degreasing them 2times.

Done (but there's still a few black spots left):

Then Scratch X by hand. The car wasn't all that scratched up, but it was a few scratches and swirls:

The paint on the mirror was a bit hazy....

After a quick coat of Scratch X...

And last, a coat of NXT Wax, by hand.
Result:

I was supposed to put on a coat with GC Wax, but it's raining today...

Looking good!

On the wheels, in the after shot, I still see a bit of brake dust in the corners. A lot of time, if it is baked on there, it's hard to get off. Run an old piece of clay across it and it should take care of it.

Gorgeous work considering the materials you used! How about seeing some more of that black Audi in the background?

TexasTB: Yeah, I was considering to use clay, because the brush I used on the rims was a bit "cactus-looking", but I didn't want you ruin my clay bar. I'm gonna use some old clay the next time!

P1et: The Audi is to dirty to be showed off right now.. It's Ming Blue Pearl actually... But it looks black, and even blacker on pictures.

My family is all about blue German cars..

Welcome, you should get some real wax Pinnacle, DP, Poorboys etc.
Good work there, work a little more on the rims, and it will be perfect...

I remember back in the 80's ... I was the ####, because I would use Mothers 3 step religiously. Clean, Seal, and Wax. Nobody back then used anything more than a all-in-one type deal.

The fact is still present here, properly prepping a finish will do more than just one brand name product. Taking the time to properly hit each step with a reasonable product is a better choice versus the ONE. Over time we can show you the best of the best in each area, but thats something small over what you have already done.

Yeah, I know! But every time I get paid, I end up going to BilExtra, and spening all my money on 35dollar soap and 60Dollar wax.

I promise, next time I will order some real stuff from Autogeek
