New guy here. Been into paint corrections lately.

Whats a good defect finder light to use?
and is the griots 6" dual action with a 5" backing plate with 5.5 pads a good way to polish and/or remove minor defects. My car is swirl free, just got some small areas around the car that are deeper.

Hi, welcome to AutoGeekOnline!

Either the FLEX light or RUPES light are good.

Yes that setup is preferred for machine polishing.

i've said this many times before, that is every detailer/enthusiast should own at least one traditional PC-style DA which can used for mutiple/many tasks. with that said, the GG6 is definitely an excellent choice! also purchase their newly released 5" DA backing plate and some thin low profile 5.5" pads and you'll be set...

How are the griots low pads compared to lake country's thin or their new Thinpro ones
