Hi Friends,

I have old school Flex VRG

I need to replace backing plate which size is the best ? ( I can still source Lake Country backing plates kit if it makes sense ? )

Which pad would be best for 1 step correction and which product with VRG something not to aggressive so I can use it on paint and plastic around car ( Ford Mach E )

What is best iron remover ?
I have griots garage mushroom red looking Claybar thing is this any good ?

Appreciate you all

Thank you

So you're saying you have an old Flex 3401, with the aluminum shroud? Ha, I had to look up that LC backing plate kit, I forgot all about that--it seems like something I would have bought, I wonder if I have one somewhere? Anyway, I always use the larger backing plate on my Flex, you can usually use the edge of the pad to get into smaller spaces, and if that doesn't work I use a smaller polisher for those areas.

As far as pad and polish...you're going to get 100 different answers on that one.

My 3401 is parked in my storage room due to backing plate failure
Maybe I will buy this new (to me) system

OP If your looking to minimize pad purchase get a couple orange and yellow Rupes (flared) pads
I havent used a black or red pad in a decade at least ...

I've never used the griots clay thingamajig so no input there

Keep us posted

I don't think LC makes that kit anymore, Flash, but this place still seems to sell it: https://meticulousdetailing.ca/products/lake-country-backing-plate-system-for-flex-xc-3401-vrg

The 4.5 and 5.5 Flex backing plates seem to be widely available, including here at Autogeek.
