1941 Willys Coupe - The Swoopster

I met Dennis the owner and builder of Swoopster at the John Staluppi Cars of Dreams Hospice Benefit Car & Truck Show show couple of years ago.

It was towards the end of the show and while I was walking around taking pictures of the cars on display I looked at the finish quality of the paint on this beautiful streetrod and noticed swirls.

And while I could have just walked on to the next car, I took a moment to strike up a conversation with Dennis and gently tell him that while his car looked AWESOME there was a little room for improvement in the finish quality.

I had him stand on the side of the hood so that as the sun shone down on the paint it revealed the swirls in the paint.

Dennis tole me he did all his work by hand and in my e-mail reply back to him I said that about 85% of the "Car Guys" I meet in the car show world with show cars say the same thing.

Anyway, I invited him to bring the Swoopster to Autogeek's Show Car Garage for a "Show Car Makeover" and it never fit his schedule. I added him to my e-mail list and every time I send out an e-mail about an upcoming project or an e-mail with the link to the thread with all the before, process and after pictures he gets the e-mail.

Some time between when I met him and our 8th Annual Detail Fest he did something because when the car was here I inspected the paint in the sun and it looked amazing!

Even so... I've invited Dennis to bring his 1941 Willys Roadster to our facilities for a future project. Until then, if you didn't get a chance to attend Detail Fest and see this amazing car, here you go...

While Dennis, Wayne Carini and I were checking out Dennis's Willys we had our picture taken together...

Of course, when the project comes up I'll do the normal post something to the bottom of the forum homepage.

Very cool car...

Definitely be worth the drive down to touch that beautiful piece of work. Very cool indeed.

This car was truly the feature car at Detail Fest and the awards the car won proved that. The engine was simply amazing.

Willys hotrods are bad to the bone anyways and always and this one is simply over the top...

I've also done a little polishing work on another famous Willys the Frantic Frog...

That is a very cool car.

Not only is it cool but YELLOW really *POPS* in our studio with the black and red tile floor, like this Corvette we used for a commercial recently...

Yellow really *pops*

Yeah... pretty much everyone that walked by this car had to stop and give it the full inspection...

The paint really looked awesome but as we all know, even show cars need a little freshening once in a while. We do two types of projects here at Autogeek

Extreme Makeovers
This is where we restore a show car finish to something that is extremely neglected or hacked up.

Show Car Makeovers
This is where we take a car that is in excellent condition and polish and wax it to take it to its maximum potential.

This Ford F100 was and Extreme Makeover but look how glossy the paint came out...

This 1934 Ford Pickup was a Show Car Makeover and even though it started out very nice we took it to a higher level just practicing the basics.
