1947 Buick Special Slantback Sedan photographed by Mike Phillips

Here's some shots I took of the 1947 Buick Special Slantback Sedan outside in front of Autogeek's corporate office the day after we machine polished the paint.

These were taken using my new Canon Rebel T51 on the out of the box fully automatic mode.

The Unique Slantback Design
The unique swept back design of the Buick Special Slantback separates it visually from it's the more common sedans of it's time and makes the car look like it's leaning forward. This design is becoming more popular and these body styles are appreciating in value and desirability.

This is the only picture that was adjusted in PhotoShop Elements 2.0 to alter the contrast and focus.

And my favorite...

Another hotrod put through our show car paint polishing class...
The paint looks as clear and glossy outside in the sunshine as it does inside our studio. In the sun shots you can clearly see the blue pearl...

To get these results we used Sonax Polishes and sealed the paint with Dodo Juice Diamond White Hard Wax.

Sonax Profiline Nano Polish 3/6 1000 ml

Dodo Juice Diamond White Hard Wax 250 ml

Mike was ecstatic with the results.

One of my friends told me yesterday he thought the car was ugly. That's what is so great about America, everyone is entitled to their opinion.

One thing I know for sure is this car fits my definition of an SIV or Special Interest Vehicle.

A Special Interest Vehicle doesn't have to be old, or a street rod, or a muscle car or even a classic, antique or exotic. My definition of a Special Interest Vehicle is one that if it were parked in a large parking lot outside of a store and while you were walking into the store you looked once, and then instantly took a moment to take a second look, then whatever car it is you're looking at could probably be defined as an SIV.

So this car, parked in a parking lot full of new cars, even brand new cars would more than likely get that second look. Heck I think a lot of people would veer out of their path to the store just to take a closer look.

But yeah, some might think it's ugly. It sure gets the looks though and if you watch any of the "Car Guy" shows on TV, chances are good their building "something" to look more like this car than building "something" to look like a new transportation car.

I also know for years of experience... most guys into detailing cars would rather detail a car like this than a plain, Jane transportation car.

Just sayin...

That puppy is a great example of 'old school' customizing!

Just outstanding!
