Recently I have been doing more and more vintage cars. Our friends over at Bullet Motorsports again called us to see this car. They bought if off from Mecum Auto Auction this beautiful one of kind 1965 Ford Ranchero.

At this angle and far away, the car seems to be fine. But at close inspection, this paint needed serious work. They contacted us knowing that we knew how to save this paint and our goal was to bring the gloss back. This car unfortunately wasn't the original single stage paint, it was repainted so it had clear but the problem with this paint, a lot of the panels, was out of gloss and some needed a lot of work.

Washing. Products used:

Wash 3 buckets
CG Wash/Gloss to strip down the paint.
Iron X (Liquid and paste)
Meguiar's Clay bar ( On glass, wheels and paint)

Polishing Products
Starting with the least aggressive ( M205 )
Wolfgang Uber 3.0
Pinnacle Advanced Finishing Polish
2 Coats of Pinnacle Souveran. ( Usually I use this wax on darken colors but its all I had at the moment but wait for the results).

After all the washing and Decon was done, we were all set for the polishing steps. Unfortunately their garages were all packed up so we had to work outside, which isn't a problem at all.

Some of the problem areas.

Top panel in terrible shape.

After first step looking good already.

Rear Quarter after 50/50

Top not corrected, bottom corrected

Around the letters correction was going to be done by hand. Owner didn't feel comfortable taking them off since the car is very old so I had to do what I could.

Stay tuned for the Beauty shots after completion.

Fantastic Work! All the curved body panels, edges and trim pieces/lettering must have made this one a bit more labor intensive. Cool car!

Thanks. It was indeed. I used my trusted Flex 3401 and Meguiar's DA with 3" backing plate for the small panels and tighter spots.

All pads were from Lake Country

CCS pads and 3" pads.

Also which I didn't mention before, all the chrome was hand polished using Meguiar's medium cut and finishing polish. Great stuff for sure.
