1966 Ford Fairlane - Training Car for the May 2016 Competition Ready 3-Day Detailing Class!



The owner of this car is friends with the owner of the 1966 Pontiac Tempest my classed trained with in the January class here,

He was so impressed with the quality of finish created by my class that he's offered us his car for the May class.

Sometimes the pictures can be deceiving however and I do my best to always get very good "before" pictures for all the cars that come to my classes for the write-ups that area created after the classes.

For what it's worth... I think I have the best history out of anyone that uses the title of "Detailing Instructor" in this industry of documenting the before condition of the cars used in my classes.

Heck I have the best history of fully documenting the classes! Try to find any other full-on, pro-grade detailing class where the before, during and after pictures are fully captured and shared with the public. And the write-ups and pictures are shared by the Instructor.

We're taking at Lew's Crew's Tuesday night cruise in. The sun was setting and the cars were shaded. So I couldn't get any pictures to show the true condition.

I did do the baggie test and the paint needs to be decontaminated so this car will get a multiple step, full correction, polishing and sealing on the fun day of the class and that's Friday.

I teach both show car detailing and production detailing at all my classes because people need to have both the skills and the knowledge to do both. That's besides all the other things you learn when you attend one of our classes.


Here's an example of how I document cars for my classes WHEN I have full sun to show the swirls and scratches.

So when I have control over the timing of the before pictures I always get pictures to document the true condition.

Good eye. The vinyl interior shows signs of grimy dirt build up over the years and for this we'll be going over how to use the Dupray Steam Cleaning Machines for interior detailing.

Totally understood mike, I just see some of the cars that go through the gargage you have and its easy to see how sun damaged and swirled they are. I could be wrong here but it looks good so far.

What is the main difference in your mind between show car detailing and production detailing?

Show Car Detailing is doing multiple-step paint correction, polishing and sealing to a car.

Production detailing is doing one step.


Steps = the things you do to the paint


Steps to the paint don't include the normal things like washing, claying, etc. It's the compounding, polishing, jeweling, waxing/sealing/coating steps.


Now just to be clear, a person can do show car detailing to a beige 2004 Honda Accord if they want to... far be it from me to interfere with someone's passion for perfection for whatever they drive.

When ti comes to making money however, it's important to match your services to your customer and this means NOT doing show car detailing to every car a customer brings you. As a professional detailer, you might like to give every car your all but you'll go broke.

To see the before and after is incredible, but to actually have been in the class and watch the transformation and to be one of the team members was absolutely incredible and the best part is there is no end . I love detail with all my classmates at the Show Car Garage :props:
