I was called in to try to improve the finish on this car last Tuesday and I was asked to spend just 1 day on it ($$$).
It turned out to be 1 day and 2 hours in the end. 503 removed the bumpers and everything else to make my job a lot easier. I was told that it was buffed out awhile back, but that it didn't turn out as hoped or that the finish didn't last.

I took many before pictures but not enough during the detail for obvious reasons. (T>I>M>E)

Process:

3D grand slam 4:1 wipe down
HD UNO black wool GG PC
HD UNO orange pad flex 3401
HD SPEED black pad flex 3401
HD POXY black pad GG PC
HD METAL POLISH
3D window cleaner
3D tire shine

Paint readings were between 205 - 650 microns - had plenty to work with

The paint was completely flat even though in some before pictures the car seems to have some shine :wall

Before but after the wipe down how the car looked.

it came out alright i guess.....

j/k holly sh!t...night and day man...looks like it got a new paint job

Cool car and great work. I love the 50/50 shot of the hood. Really shows the difference.

love working on paint like that where you can clearly see a huge difference between the polished and unpolished panels, love stuff like that. looks great and great work!

Wow such a sick job on that paint. I only see one of those in orange around by me here in LI. Its some really old person. The paint looks like crap too. Maybe I should convince the guy to let me get my hands on it :)

Amazing job Thomas!! You revived that beauty to its maximum potential!! I love the 50/50 shots especially since the original condition was oxidized. What was he owner's reaction?

i want that ghia. looks beautiful. what an improvement.

Thanks again guys! I never meet the owners (almost never) at this shop.

With those readings the paint would not be original, but it maybe a 20 year old repaint.

That's awesome! Love those cars. We had one when I was a young kid.

Great job!!

:props:

Nice, one of my college friends has been restoring a Karmann Ghia, I think the same year as well, but orange. Come to think about it it has been 'under restoration' for 8 years now :D

Absolutely Awsome!!!!
One of the best examples of why we do what we do.

I appreciate the compliments guys! I hope the client was happy.
