I did a quick detail on my old vette today (had to make sure I was done before the Gator's game). I ran out of garage space so it's been sitting in my enclosed car trailer for the last year. It had a little mold on the seats but it washed right off. The car is all original. The paint on all the fiberglass looks like new. The paint on the front and rear bumpers is starting to get little cracks. It looks like I will need to get the bumpers painted before long. Hopefully they will be able to match the rest of the paint. It's been a great car with very few problems in 25 years.

Exterior:

Wash: Pooboy's Super Slick and Suds using a white Schmitt

Wax: Pinnacle Signiture Series

Interior:

Wash: Connolly Leather Cleaner

Leather: Connolly Hide Care applied with hand

Vinyl: 1Z Einszett Vinyl-Rubber Care

Plastic: 1Z Einszett Cockpit Premium

Porno red FTW
Car still looks brand new. DO those have a good resell value?

That's pretty nice for a ~25 year old Corvette! And, a very nice color combo too. I wish Chevrolet hadn't chosen to switch to "Torch Red" for 2010. The reds with more "blue" in them are so much better.......like that interior of yours. Years ago, when they went through another "torch red" phase, red on red was such a hideous combo.

BTW, how long was the "quick" detail today?? :)

And, will UofF stay on top after taking down Tennessee today......what do ya' think? :)

See ya

Never heard of Porno Red wytstang. Is that something you made up or found out about from experience. ;)

Like any car vettes depreciate then reach a point where they start to go up in value especially if they are in great condition. Right now a C4 vette has about reached the bottom of it's depreciation. Parts for old vettes are easy to get and there are a lot of vette collectors. They usually do well in terms of holding their value then increasing in value compared to most cars.

I spent about 4 hours on the detail. I'm never in a hurry when I detail my cars. It's something I enjoy doing. I think the Gator's will still be No. 1.

HAHAHA!

Wow, nice work Gary.

I take it you conditioned the leather with some water? I hear it's all you need

I really don't like to get into it with anyone on the forum about things but I strongly disagreed with the advice being given.

Gray that car is outstanding . You can tell you took very good care of if. Never heard of that leather treatment,by the lookd of the leather i work great . I have using Adam Leather cleaner /conditioner . Almost do you recommend it & How hard is it to work with. Great Work

one thing .... I see some tailpipes that could stand some quad 0 stainless steel wool. The rest of the car looks absolutely pristine even down to the factory wheels. You certainly have kept it up and great to see one without the cloudy front lamp area too.

:xyxthumbs: I bet she is the best looking 85 in Florida.

For it being a '85 Vette, you will not find many as nice and well kept as that one is. Very nice job. :props:

Great job on the up-keep Gary. That's a lot of blood on that interior.

Thanks alot guys for the additional nice comments!

Connolly is a very old English company that's been around for over 100 years. It was recommended by such companies as Bentley and Jaguar for care of their leather interior for years. Great on uncoated Leather. Leaves leather very soft. Great to put it on when it's hot and let it soak in. Sometimes I have even left Connolly Hide Care on over night before buffing it off with a microfiber. Connolly Leather Cleaner is a liquid soap you dilute with water. Connolly Hide Care is a crème. It’s very easy to use

Thanks Killr! The tailpipes as well as the whole exhaust is original. In fact everything you see on the car is original except for the tires. The tailpipes were anodized black from the factory but it has started to come off the last few years. I guess this can be expected after 20 some years. I probably sould get all the anodizing off the tail pipes and polished them out. Besides maintenance items I have only had to replace 1 water pump, 1 fuel pump, 1 window motor and 1 headlight motor. Not bad for a 25 year old car.

Hey Sparkie what's with the Detailer's Club Norway picture. Truls just sent me a Detailer's Club Norway T-Shirt. I told him he needs to get back on AG and post some recent details of his Evo.

Rsurfer, according to wytstang it's porno red.

LOL Porno Red is the nick name the older mustangs that use that type of red received. Yours is the first one I've seen photograph well, all the other Porno Reds looks like crap when photographed.
I'm surprised to see so much bolster support for an 85' model seat.

Very nicely kept Vette, but I would expect nothing less in your stable:xyxthumbs:

I heard from Truls a couple of days ago. He's planning on making some new Detailers Club Norway T-Shirts and may use the Duragloss slogan "Shine Happens" with a picture of his Evo as a background. Truls is a great guy.

Knowing you wytstang, I'm not sure if I'm buying your explanation of Porno Red. The good photos must have something to do with the photographer, LOL. I like the seats better in the 85 better than the ones in my 08 Z06.

Thanks killrfake!
