It only gets washed when it goes in for service

As you can see from the befores, that the paint is a little neglected. And it is a black single stage paint also.
He is the second owner, and drives it everywhere. It is his favorite car to drive. He has owned the car for about 10 years
The dashboard is cracked and ripped all over. And he won’t replace it.

The Wash
It was washed the day before, and part of it needed a little more. I used my apc/water mix to spray down the front end, and both lower rocker panels. And also the back bumper area.

The Gameplan

As I inspect the paint, I have found it is thin in some places. Since you could see the metal in places. So I take out the PC and go with XMT 360. I had to use the yellow edge pad.(my grn pad dropped into some dirty water on the ground).:( There was a few area's that I had to do by hand with the xmt360. And it was hard to tell were I did that too.
That is why I like the XMT360 so much. It cleans the paint, helps correct it, and then seals it at the same time.

Extrior trim
Since it was in rough shape I went with Black wow.

This is what I had to work with. And remember it was washed too.

Can we see that dash? Just curious....

Whoever had that back in the day must of been PIMPIN

Lord yes I can tell:D I like that shot. Ed may I ask, how hard was the CC? A guy was asking me about a detail on his 86...

Looks great! Love the 50/50 shot. XMT360 cleaned that up real nice! Thought it would need something more abrasive.

Very nice restoration, that 50/50 shot is incredable. Well done and thank you for sharing.

Love seeing your work Ed :righton:

Sparky,
there is none. From the factory on a '86 it is a single stage. If it has clear coat, then it was repainted. Be very careful near the edges, paint is very thin
And your pads will get dirty, both sides of my edge pads get nasty. APC is the only thing I have found to get the pad clean again, after a SS detail

That side by side show is excellent. Beautiful as well for being that old, I can see how it's his favorite car. But yes, about that dash, spend a few dollars and get that crap replaced!!!

Looks good

love the 50/50 shot. That truly is a sweeeeet ride
