1988 Silverado

I detailed a couple's car recently and they loved the result. They then asked me to quote prices to detail 2 trucks. One is a 2004 Tacoma which I'm pretty sure is clear coat but the 1988 Silverado I'm unsure about it's paint. The Silverado is the husband's joy. Internet searches get me to a time around the mid 80s when manufacturers were beginning to switch to clear coat paint systems. I wanted to check the forum to see if anyone knows. Thanks.

AFAIK GM trucks didnt get CC till somewhere around 1992ish. I am old so I may not remember exactly. Best thing to do is get some polish on a WHITE (unless the truck is white) MF towel and rub a section or two a couple times, if the towel changes to the color of the truck you will know FOR SURE. Never know if it was originally CC but someone painted it SS or the other way around.
