So a couple weeks ago, A coworker dropped off his 1996 red Honda Accord for me to play with. He opening admitted that (1) It had never been detailed (2) probably had been years since it's last wash and (3) he had hauled a couple bails of hay down to a couple of his animals on it.

I told him I would attempt to make it look good but not show quality. I think the phrase I used was "I'll make it turn heads from a distance but it wasn't going to be show room quality". He response was he didn't care as long as it looked better then when he dropped it off.

We agreed that he would drop it off on a Friday after work and pick it back up sometime that next Sunday.

Chemicals & Hardware used:

Meguiar's Hyperwash
Meguiar's Paint Reconditioning Cream (d151)
Meguiar's Glass Cleaner
Meguiar's OTC Clay Bar Kit
Duragloss Nu-Glass
Poorboy's World Natty's Liquid Blue Wax
303 Protectant
Chemical Guy's Sticky Gel Wheel Cleaner
DP High Gloss Tire Gel

PCxp

Flat Orange pads
Flat Black Pad

Steps:
(total time: 13 hours, over 3 days)
(part of the long time to complete had to do with the high temperatures and humidity we were having that weekend. We averaged about 101 each of these days with humidity I'm guess in the high 80's. So needless to say I was taking frequent water breaks)

Clay

Polished
Waxed
Windows (inside & out)
Dressed tires

Friday Evening

Washed
Clayed
re-Washed
Cleaned wheels/tires

Saturday

I wasn't able to get an immediate start on the car because I had to work my 'real' part time job in the morning. I think If I could have had Saturday morning I could have finished it sooner then I did. But oh well

I spent from 2PM until about 6 PM with the PC& D151. As I was new with the whole PCxp / D151 and doing any paint correction I was moving very slow and doing farily small sections (doing on average of 5-6 section passes per area that I was working on. The first day I was able to complete the trunk / hood and side panels above the pin stripes. That would leave the roof and everything below the pin strips for Sunday. The remainder of the time (what daylight remained) I used to start doing a very minor cleanup of the interior.

Sunday

Was able to get a much earlier start to the day (9AM). I would end up completing the roof and side panels below the pin stripes before 3pm. Leaving a couple hours to dress the tires, try out Duragloss's Nu-Glass and apply a coating of Poorboy's new Liquid Blue Natty's wax (mini review to follow below the pictures).

I called the customer and told him that he could come pick up his vehicle anytime he liked. When him and his wife came to pick it up they thought they had been given a totally new car. His wife was grinning ear to ear and although he himself was trying to be 'cool' about the whole thing I even noticed a couple times a grin coming from him.

Keep in mind this is a 14 year old car and all things considered was in really good shape for its age, after he picked it up there was a threat of rain the next day and he told me they would not be driving it ……they didn't' want to get it dirty he said LOL ( I had to laugh). Two days later he came to the office laughing. He was strapping the kid into the car seat and heard a thud, he looked around and noticed that the child's sippy cup and fallen on the ground. He said that he had been doing that for years and never once thought about it, the car was so clean and slippery it had simply slipped off the roof were he had been placing it all these years.

Ok onto the pictures.

Two before shots (first one doesn't really show you how bad the paint was)

Cleaning wheels:

Claying Car (this was only after doing the very small section from the fender to the first 'bump' on hood)

Work in progress. In this picture I had completed the trunk and was starting to work my way up the 'C' pillar. Basically it was a shot that shows what D151 had done and what I was working with:

More 50/50's

Completed shots, note minor swirls were gone, shine was up and big scratch's remained (just like how the product is to work) I like how the reflection are crisp and sharp:

Mini Review of Poorboy's Liquid Natty's Blue

Bottle Size: 16oz
Amount of product used: Not much maybe an ounce or two.
Method of application: PCxp w/black pad
Ease of application & removal: Couldn't have been any easier
Smell: Pleasant no chemical smell noted. Smelled like blueberry.
Would I recommend it when it is finally released: Absolutely

Product does need shacking (as per direction) it was a week before I was able to use it and through the clear bottle you could see were it was separating (product and a blue color product).

Product was easy to spread thin with the PC and took no pressure at all to apply.

I did about half the car at a time, applying it and allowing it to haze over before wiping off.

Product left a very slick and shinny service after I was complete.

I'd like to do a second review hopefully in the next couple weeks as this one is kind of minor and could have more 'meat' to it.

You really kicked that oxidation in the butt - nice work!

Awesome job! Going to have to give D151 a try :) I've got a friend with a milano red honda who has fallen to the milano pink disease :( 151 should nip it quick!

Red is the best color to see oxidation and oxidation removal photos in my opinion. Very nice job, I bet the owner was very impressed.

These are the best types of paint restoration. The difference between before and after is obvious even from many feet away no matter what lighting.

The owner was all smiles, they thought I had gotten them a new car as they approached the house. I even observed her husband with a grin on his face a couple times (he was trying to hide it I think lol...mocho man thing going on)

I agree. It was a good practice car also. Owner didn't really care how it turned out, but was very happy and all smiles when they picked it up.
