Love the way it came out.

Wow! Great work there! If you don't mind me asking how long and how much did you charge for that one?

I spent about 2 hours on Saturday washing, claying, and working on the interior. Today...about 7 hours polishing, sealing, 303 on the interior, windows, finishing up, etc.

I undercharge because I do this on the side simply because I love detailing. $150 with a generous tip. If I were doing this for my main income, I would've charged minimum $250-300.

Now that is a nice detail. What a change in the carpets. What was your process with those?

Very nice, the exterior looks wicked and the interior is very nice. I like the way the carpet look, I do love those stripes.

I agree with you, I've detailed some vehicles at no charge just because I want to. It's nice getting paid but it's the reaction of the owner that I love the most.

Very nice job...oh I too like the way the tires look and the taping job looks good.

Thanks for sharing.

<edit> where is the fence picture? I love those shots with the fence ;)

Sevenrd, I always enjoy your details. Looks like you had your hands full on this one. Awesome turnaround.

Great Job Sevenrd! You always do some excellant work. I didn't think the floor mats would have come out as clean as you got them.

Very nice detail!! I love it! The interior looked really bad! Now its like new! :D

I was so impressed by Mike's detail that all I could say was "good job" when I went to pick up the car :o. The turnaround was definitely beyond expectation, considering this is the first time that this car (inherited from wife) has received any TLC.

even for a side job you need to charge more... that is a stunning turn around. can you define all the products you used. still trying to learn. but still, you need to charge more, that is time out of your life

The more I do this, the more agree with you. I started detailing as a hobby/passion. I was more than happy to detail a neighbor's/friend's car for free when I first got into this simply because I loved the process. I still love detailing, as I keep it as a hobby/side job. I think if I were to do it full-time it may become a chore - I don't want that. Still, it is time-consuming work. If I continue to do this more frequently (which seems to be the case) I will begin to charge more - or at the very least offer different tiers of work.

More detail regarding this detail...

Washed with DP extreme foam using foam gun and boar hair brush.
Clayed using the foam gun/car wash as lubricant.
Wheels were tough. There were so many closely spaced spokes which made it difficult and time-consuimg to clean. I used DP gel wheel cleaner and a Meg's wheel brush.

For the mats, I first sprayed them down with a jet of water (BTW, I don't have a pressure washer or extractor). I then applied 303 APC dilluted about 30:1 and let sit for a few minutes. Then srubbed with a scrub brush. This improved them, but not enough. So I then misted some 303 APC full strength over the mats, scrubbed, and rinsed thoroughly. Vac'd with Ridgid wet/dry vac.

Interior cleaning consisted of 303 APC dilluted for general cleaning, Meg's Quick Out on problem areas. Pinnacle leather/vinyl cleaner was used on the seats and door panels, scrubbed with an interior brush where necessary. All surfaces protected with 303 protectant.

For the exterior, I tried various strong polishes and settled on Optimum Compound with a yellow LC pad. It just seemed to be giving me the best results. As I mentioned, I went up to 1700rpm at times and did mutiple passes in problem areas. A wool pad would've likely been the best choice for this car, but I didn't have one (will soon though). After the OC I finished up with Menzerna FPII on a white LC pad at 1100rpm.

Hand applied/removed the sealant. Finished up by dressing the tires and wheel wells, cleaned windows with FK425.

Figured you used a rotary to get those results hehe. Great work again!
