Little background on this car:

This is my buddy Matt's 99 Cobra that he has had since 2002, and has only been on the road for the past 9 months after sitting a little over 6 years, so it's got it's fair share of built up dirt. In addition, Matt's a tech so dirt and grease is common place.

This is easily the VERY WORST car I've detailed, as it has 6 years of dirt, fade, bird droppings, tree fallout, you name it, on the surface. I have been working on it here and there as a favor to him because he has helped me tremendously when it comes to car stuff.

So far I have about 8-9 hrs into the car and I've just gotten to the interior, and clay/compound/polish of the hood and trunk. I have started with some teaser pics and I will be adding them as I go:

Interior:
APC+ cut 4:1 and various scrubbing utensils
Stoner's Invisible Glass
Bissell Little Green Machine (great tool for the price!)

Exterior:
Meguiar's Shampoo Plus w/ APC+ mixed.
Detailer's Pro Series Ultimate Clay Bar
Meguiar's M105 on Orange LC pad
Meguiar's M205 on White LC pad
Collinite's 845 by hand with 20-30 minute setup time.

As you can see, the M105 does a great job, but I could probably get more out of the paint if I stepped up to the yellow pad:

When I read the title I was thinking an AC Cobra replica not an SVT Cobra. Which is weird because a have an SVT Cobra. Very nice job. Seeing this I'm so glad I bought mine from a guy who maintained it and kept it inside.

Where did this sit for 6 years, inside, outside, garage, barn, under a cover? Was it in a dry environment like southern or CA car? Just curious. Anxious to see more. What will you use on the Leather? Are you doing and engine detail? Would love to see what you do with that. Thanks, Spiney-Dave

With the right skills, product, and time it's amazing what can be brought back to life....Very well done...:props:

This car sat in a musty garage for a few years, then outside in the sun, uncovered, for about 3 years. Unfortunately, rust played a part in some of the undercarriage, but it's not TOO bad. The paint is really cleaning up nice, but it's far from perfect. There is other misc. bodywork needed as well.

WOW! Looks great so far. Love the older style Cobras! I can't wait to see the final pictures. Please post more 50/50s. I love those shots!

It won't allow me to edit the original post, but here is an example of what the clay looked like after about a 12 sq. in. area. Results were similar over most of the car:

Being a Cobra fan I just cringe when I hear about one being left in the elements for years on end.

But you really turned it around. I hope the owner has the time to drive and enjoy it in the future.
