I was thinking about getting a second polisher. Currently I have a Concours 900 DA polisher, but I was thinking of also getting a Flex 3401. I can use one machine for the grunt work on the flat panels (probably the Concours) with a 6" backing plate, then use the Flex, with its forced rotation, with a 4" backing plate for front and rear bars, spoilers, areas where a standard DA polisher will not rotate properly or get sufficient pressure on the panel.

What are peoples thoughts on this? Does anyone currently do this or something similar?

Don't be surprised if you just wind up using the Flex, it's that good of a polisher.

I kind of do what you're talking about.

I use the Flex to do everything, but when I can't use it because it's too bulky or the pad/backing plate won't fit correctly somewhere I use a DA with 3-4in pads on a 3in backing plate.

Hope that helps. The flex is a beast. Love it.

It's always great to have more than one polisher. Look at my signature!

I think multiple polishers are a great idea. I happen to have five myself...

Always a great time saver to have a standard 5"/6" set up, then a 3"/4" set up as well. Also serves as a nice back up!

Exactly what I have been doing for quite some time. 3401 with 6.5", 5.5" and PC-XP with 3" and 4" pads. Such a time saver not having to change out Backing plates most of the time.

I have 5 polishers and that's about to grow again in the next few weeks. Trust me, having multiple polishers set up to perform different functions is a lot easier than having to switch backing plates, pads and products on a continual basis. Plus, if you ever hire somebody you will each want your own polisher to knock a job out quickly yet effectively.

I have 2 now One for 5" pads and one for 3" pads, definitely saves time and hassle.
