2 things car shampoo and bugs

My megs hyperwash for foam cannon and 2 bucket method is almost gone. Loved this shampoo due to the fact that it doesn’t stain or streak in the sun and didn’t realize how important that was until I tried some chemical guys citrus wash from Walmart and it was not as forgiving in the sun. So I’m open to opinion and willing to try something new.

second question, good sponge or brush that safe on paint to remove stuck on bugs. Washed a big ram 3500 win a utility bed and rack and I think he hit every single but in the county. Foam canon with legs hyper wash and a microfiber wash kit is all I had and I really had to apply pressure to get most of the bugs off so I rapiers I needed more tools/ product in my arsenal to tackle a job like this. Did I mention lots tiny bits of tar too( usd simple green on that)

We typically pretreat the front end and mirrors of most vehicles (if they need it) with a good bug and tar remover before we wash. Then when we wash, they'll typically wipe right off with mitt.

McKee's 37 Road Kill Bug Remover, best bug remover, love bug remover, how to remove bugs and tar

Would be a good PRE TREATMEANT for bugs.tar. Spray on affected areas and wash as normal. Will not remove your LSP.

As far as the shampoo go's, this can be used in direct sun without any issues...

Like pro 4x, I soak the areas and then use a bug scrubber.

My choice of bug remover is Poorboys Bug Squash. When the bugs are really hard to remove I'll break out one of these bug sponges: McKee's 37 Bug Sponge. They work well, but mine seem to break down after only a summer or two. Next year I'm looking at trying one of these to see how the hold up: Sonax Insect Sponge

As for car shampoo that can be worked in the sun, I've found Poorboy Super Slick with Suds, Sonax Car Wash, and Optimum Car Wash all work great.

McKee's 37 Sio2 Auto Wash

It does remove your lsp. That’s why in the vids it’s paired with Hydro Blue in the videos. They say the bugs alone will remove your lsp, but common sense tells you that the Bug & Roadkill Spray definitely removes whatever protection you had on the paint.

The new Pinnacle Adavanced Insect Remover works great. I also use a Pinnacle Safe Scrub Bug & Tar Pad for lightly scrubbing the stuck on bug guts. These two products work great together.

CarPro TarX Tar & Adhesive Remover works great for removing Tar.

Blackfire Foam Soap is perfect for using with a Foam Cannon.

McKee's 37 Road Kill Bug Remover can be diluted 1:1 with water to safely remove bug guts without effecting sensitive wax finishes. This makes McKee's 37 Road Kill Bug Remover an exceptional value.

Mixed 1:1 as stated in the above directions, I never had it effect a LSP. Full strength, I would believe it would indeed impact a LSP.

Are you useing the Meguiars Hyper Wash as a prewash?

If so I would look into a dedicated prewash foam like gtechnic w4 citrus foam or gyeon foam. Maybe the new Griots Garage BOSS surface wash is also working like those. They are developed to not be aggitated like a car soap needs to be. And IME prewash foams are very effective to soften up bug squash. So you only need to use the water pressure from the PW to clean it off. The little that is left often is easy to get with the wash mitt. If you get a very baked on bug squash. You could pretreat it with a bug remover. Then foam right over the pretreat and water pressure from the PW to clean it off. Very unusual that I get anything left when doing this.

The downside with dedicated prewash foam is they cost more than car soaps. 3D and GG has released some new ones that seems to be more economical. If I where haveing a detailing business. I would try something like 3D Orange 88 Degreaser and a pump sprayer to apply it with. Something that is concentrated so you dilute it. Some can be nasty on the LSP. The citrus based degreasers is a benefit to use as most are LSP friendly even at low dilution.

Then you have the combined tar and bug removers that works good. The downside is that you need to be very carefull if used in the sun. Those chemicals you don't want to dry on your vehical.

And if you are satisfied with the Meguiars Hyper Wash I would get another gallon of it to be used as a car soap. Don't know if my favorite car soap is sun friendly which is Carpro Reset. I'm always very carefull to not let any car soap dry on the paint. The McKees 37 Sio2 Wash has that benefit that you can let it do that. If I'm washing in the sun or hot panels I always rinse it off after every panel I wash.

I have the bug sponge (don't remember who made it) and the Sonax bug sponge. The Sonax is the only one of the two I use. No presoak; easy to use; works well.

I'm in SoCal so the bugs are minimal compared to the the East Cost. I have Bug Squash but rarely ever use it. I use P21s in a pump sprayer at 1:30 for traffic film on the rear and lower parts of the panels (well sometimes). Since I usually have it handy, it's just easier to use if I don't think the car soap will take care of things. And I may be hackish, but a finger nail works too.
