So last weekend was the opening show for FuelFed in Lake Forest Illinois, today was the first show at a place called The Garage Store in East Dundee Illinois.

I'll start with FuelFed:

Highlights in this first grouping, that 73' Corvette was L O U D and in a VERY good way

The 56' Ford pickup truck...Jag V12

The 83' Supra is a time capsule and last but not least, my favorite car of ALL TIME...the mid-year Corvette coupe🤌🤌

...but wait, there's more

Gallant VR-4. THIS Lambo sounded awesome, 1 of 1035 Buick Turbo T's, R32, Terminstor Cobra, Euro R Accord, 65' GTO and yes "it's got a 440 plant, cop tires, cops shocks and no cats means it runs on regular gas....don't like it!"

Nice selection Roger, I haven't seen a TR7 in ages, I used to see the occasional one getting around in Sydney back in the 80s, from memory green was the most common colour, but I don't remember seeing any convertibles. The Caprice looks to have originally been a Chevy PPV, going by the wheels, the owner looks to have swapped badges, as quite a few did over here, wanting to make their Holdens into Chevys.

Thanks Dave!

Yeah the newer Commadores we got here were simply called the SS, so I call those the Chevy Option Package because that's what SS is

The previous one fell inline with Pontiac trying to be like BMW, G3, G5, G6 and your Commodore was the G8, G8 GT was the V8, GXP was the Uber V8, 415 hp. Btw, did your base Commodore get the V6?

Yeah, the base Commodores came with a V6, talking VE 2006-2011 they were 3.6L, VE II went 3.0L in the base, but power was up and torque was down, but it could run on E85 flex fuel, which I did couple of times in my 3.0 Berlina Sportwagon, it was a very noticeable improvement, but fuel economy went from 18+mpg down to 11mpg, but that was partially due to me having fun with the extra power. The SV6 sports model kept the 3.6 all the way through.

Great pics, as always. My friend had an '82 Celica which was the same platform that '83 Supra (his was brown, which was a thing at the time, and I notice is now back). Also was in high school with a guy that had a Saab that looked like that, 3-cylinder two-stroke, if I recall.

That was a TR8 in the picture. Klasse will correct me but I think the convertible was only on the TR8, no TR7 convertibles. The V-8 in the TR8 was an aluminum Buick 215 cu. in. that Triumph/Rover (I guess it was still British Leyland at the time) still had license to build (from the 60's). I don't think the Buick version was aluminum.

100% correct, I looked up TR7s this morning to see what they're going for, but there's none available on the site I use. But I did notice a couple of TR8s, which I didn't look at. This sellers comments says it all, no wonder I didn't see any on the road over here back in the 80s, but there's at least 2 now, this one is going for $36k.

Funny how these cars move around. A late friend of mine had an '88 or '89 Porsche 930 that he wanted to sell to pay for his daughter's college (this was about 10 years ago), and he sold it to someone in Australia. I can't even imagine the paperwork etc. for that.

Great pics!

It's funny, the ones that stand out to me are probably some of the least appreciated cars from those shows.
  • The '83 Supra. Still one of my favorite car designs in general and maybe my favorite Supra generation. I really like the current gen too, but it's far less usable of a car due to the visibility, and lack of storage.
  • The Citreon 2CV. It may be a strange, gutless, French car, but seeing one just makes me smile for some reason. The crazy suspension on that car is well suited for the terrible road conditions most of us face today.
  • The most recent gen NSX. I always thought it was a stunning looking car and the hybrid set up a fantastic idea. It was ahead of it's time and the numbers were less than other supercars of the time, but I'd still happily own one if that long-lost rich relative comes through for me some day.

TR7 and TR8's both were convertibles
