2 years with Autogeek!

Today, August 10th marks 2 years since I officially started working for Autogeek.

It's been an absolutely amazing first two years and I want to take a moment to say thank you to all my friends.

Max McKee
First I would like to say thank you to Max for mycareer. It wouldn't be correct to say thank you for my job because the position he's given me and the opportunities he's created are light years away from what I would consider a job. I've had jobs... this ain't no job, this is an exciting journy...

When we first met in his office in May of 2009, a few hours after I taught the Detailing 101 class I taught for Meguiar's for years on the West Coat, we discussed my future position at Autogeek and talked about a lot of ideas and opportunities that we both had a passion for and the most exciting idea we discussed was the potential to do a TV Show.

At that time it was just talk, strong talk but still just a dialog. Then after making the transition to Autogeek and reaching the point to where we're all gelling together as a team, the opportunity do our first TV show arose and we seized the opportunity.

That's a dream come true for me as I've dreamed about and thought about hosting a TV show focused on the car hobby for probably going on 20+ years. So yeah, pretty much the pinnacle of my automotive career. I'm very thankful for the chance of a lifetime.

The really good news is that starting in January we're shooting the 2nd season and we're dramatically changing the format to what I think will be a much better match for my passion and that's education as it relates to detailing cars. It's been my passion ever since I was a kid and started helping my Dad take care of his cars, motorcycles and boats.

It doesn't end there though as Max has also created new partnerships in the automotive TV world providing me with the opportunity to share my passion with millions of car enthusiasts by working with Dennis Gage on My Classic Car, Bryan Fuller on Two Guys Garage, Matt Steele and Bruno Massel on Truck U and Dave Bowman and Sam Memmolo on Motorhead Garage. Pretty exciting stuff for a guy that grew up in a small town in Oregon.

Just today I saw two brand new how-to features play on Two Guys Garage and Truck U that we shot back in April and there's more to come into the future. Pretty darn cool.

Max built the Show Car Garage Studio just for the purposes of creating educational videos and holding training classes and I'm happy to say that this month and next month we'll be filming two brand new DVD's with a few celebrities and that's going not only going to be a blast but another high point in my career.

I've had the good fortune to represent Autogeek an numerous events over the last two years and while they''re all good, DetailFest and SEMA are the two BIG ones we do each year and while behind the scenes they are a ton of work for everyone involved they're also some of the best events to be plugged into and have the opportunity to work at.

Through Max's relationships, he's introduced me to more people in this industry in the last two years than I've met in the last 18+ years before joining the Autogeek team and these are now both business relationships and friends I'll have forever. You just can't put a price on something like this...

I could go on and should but I'll stop here as I have others to thank still...

Meghan and Jason - Autogeek General Managers
If it were not for all the kindness, patience and behind the scenes support provided by both Meghan and Jason I would not be able to get anything done. They are without a doubt the glue that holds everything together here at Autogeek but they're also usually 2-3 steps ahead of the rest of the team removing obstacles and forging a smooth path enabling everyone else to do their work faster and more efficiently. Not only are they sharp and savvy in all aspects of the Autogeek Machine, but they're genuinely nice people and I count them as good friends.

Yancy - The Man of Many Talents
What can I say about Yancy except anytime I look like I know what I'm doing on camera, it's because of him, not only is he incredibly talented in so many different areas of our business but he's also able to run two cameras at the same time and then edit the footage into a completed video. Simply amazing. Besides all his help behind the scenes with my projects, he's also a genuinely nice guy as well as a car guy with a passion for helping others.

The rest of the Autogeek Team
There's too many people here at Autogeek with our fast-paced growth to outline all of the areas we work together but I do want to make very clear that like the saying goes,

No man is an Island

My second family... my co-workers...
When I first came to autogeek Max told me this would become my second family and he's been right. Autogeek is a well oiled-machine and runs at peak performance on all cylinders, but in a personable way that I'm so fortunate to be a part of.

So thank you to the rest of my co-workers for all the help you've given me over the last two years...

Dwayne McPeeks
I've known Dwayne since discussion forums have been around and he's always been a great friend and peer in this industry. When I first moved here and didn't have any friends or know my way around Dwayne extended his friendship and comradery and I'll always be thankful.

Forum Friends
I would also like to thank all of my friends on the AGO forum. I've interacted so much with so many of you that even though most of us have never met I feel like you're all my friends. I have been lucky to actually meet quite a few forum members at events like SEMA, DetailFest, Detailing Classes, and visitors to our facilities and it's always been a sincere pleasure to finally put a face to a forum nickname and cement the friendship.

Autogeek Partners
I've made a lot of friends that are partners with Autogeek by providing us with their products so we in turn can offer them to our customers. Some of these people are the owners of companies and some are representatives and I count them all as good friends. A complete list will take some time to create but just to mention a few names...

Bob Eichelberg - Flex Tools
Dr. David Ghodoussi - Optimum Polymer Technologies
Eric Dunn and Jay Schneider - Lake Country Pads
Rick Goldstein - RaggTopp Products
Jeffrey Silver - Menzerna

Wow.. it seems like it was yesterday when I talked to you on the phone just after you left Meguiars....

Congrats on 2 years and may you have many more!

It's so hard to belief that two years have flown by so quickly. I'm gratified to hear that you have a career choice that is so much fun. I recall my father telling me when I was but a teen, "Find a job that you love and you will never work a day in your life." I did and I believe you have also.

Hope you have many, many more.

Congratulations for all the accomplishments you've done Mike!! I think you've done so much for Autogeek and the rest of the detailing community. I would like to personally THANK YOU for all the hard work you've put in to TEACH us all the tips and tricks you know in detailing. I don't think the detailing world will be where it is without you.

Once again, our sincerest THANK YOU!
