Well, the weekend has finally come to part ways with my 2000 ZX2 S/R. One of only 2000 made in the year 2000 (the S/R package), this was the first new car I bought after college. It came from the factory with a performance clutch, flashed computer chip, B&M short-throw shifter, Borla exhaust, Iceman intake, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, Eibach springs and Tokico struts, polygraphite suspension bushings, custom aluminum rims, and Zinc yellow paint. I added a JBA header and intake extension that relocated the air filter to the front fender as well. It's sad to see it go, but the Vette takes a little of the sting out of the separation. Plus my wife says we can't have 4 cars and 2 motorcycles for just two people.

Anywhoo, it's at least staying in the family since my sister will be taking back to D.C. with her (to park on the street...ugh). I cleaned it up for her since it's 7 years old and has 56,000 miles on it. It's been rough since we moved to Florida, mostly because of frequent rain storms and the constant lawn mowing that leave the car filthy.

Befores...here's the filthy:

Continuation....

So the process used was:

Wheels
DP Gel Wheel Cleaner
Random wheel brushes
DP Wheel Glaze
Zaino Perfect Tire Shine

Trim
Mother's Back to Black

Windows
Surf City Clearly Better Glass Cleaner

Chrome
Surf City Killer Chrome

Paint
Wash with Surf City Pacific Blue Wash and Wax
Tough spots with Surf City Road Trip Grime Destroyer
California Microfiber Sponge
Dry with Ultimate Guzzler
XMT 3 via PC on orange pad
XMT 1 via PC on white pad
Poorboy's EX-P
Topped off with S-100
Wiped down with DP Final Gloss Quik Detailer

I did the last wipe with the Quik Detailer on the hood and fenders since they were recently repainted and I can't really seal them, but wanted to have some sort of protection on them before I handed the car over!

Shiny and clean!

Signature shot, though it's hard to see the Vette reflection without sun:

I did this in stages, and there has been NO sun in this part of Florida for about 4 days now, so sorry for the lack of direct sun pictures. At least it shows off the gloss on the yellow in the cloudy daylight!

She is quite happy with how the car looks, and so am I. Too bad I am getting rid of it! :(

Very nice work on the ZX2 :D Love how the yellow glow! And the mirrors are so BLACK :D sweet. Hard to let the baby go huh?

Very nice job! What a good brother you are, taking care of your sister like that!

Very nice work cleaning up that car! I agree with Pirex...that Yellow is glowing! Paintwork is looking smoooooth!!

Wow those water spots were horrible! Great work. That exhaust tip looks good too.

Thanks Budman. The people around here water their lawns with well water which is full of sulfur and who knows what else...it shot all over the car and then baked in while I was off on a business trip. Between that and the lawn debris, I had quite a job ahead of me when I got back!

Pirex and Alban - thanks. Yes, it is tough to get rid of the car but if I'm nice I can talk my sister into letting me drive it now and again when I see her! The yellow was attracting all sorts of bugs too - they were all over the thing!

Tonya - I AM a great brother, aren't I? Hehe, j/k, thanks for the compliments though.

Great job. I haven't done a yellow car yet but from what I hear it's not an easy color to have the WOW factor, but man you gave that car the definite WOW factor. I would love to see some interior shots since I have never seen one of these.
