My daughter just inherited this car from my brother in law. Really nice condition. The paint has been neglected. Some varying scratches and swirl marks. Can someone reccomend a game plan to bring the paint back to its' full potential? Thanks for the replies...

What type of machine do you use. What pads also/products do you have ?

That will give a good idea, on how to prep and polish out the paint.

I have a Flex unit. Also have access to a Makita orbital. I have a few Menzerna products. I'm willing to pick up whatever I need (within reason) to do the right thing...

M105/M205/P085RD is a VERY popular combo now-of-days for the Flex. I have seen some wonderful results with it. If you're going to opt out for a single step product, try D151, I used it on my black cobalt with great results, no swirls at all, only deeper scratches left (M105 would have taken these out).

I suggest using 5.5" Lake Country Hydrotech or Flat pads:
Lake Country Hydro-Tech 5.5 x 1.25 Inch Foam Pads, hydrotech foam buffing pads, dual action foam pads

Lake Country 5 1/2 x 7/8 inch Beveled Edge Foam Pads, buffing pads, Lake Country curved edge pads, polishing pads
You also can't go wrong with the Wolfgang Twins:
Wolfgang 8 oz. Swirl Remover Combo, Wolfgang polishes, total swirl remover, finishing glaze, machine glaze

What pad's do you use ? I would go with the Menz product you have. See what can be done with those. And if that doesn't fix, then maybe the meg's 105/205

My parents have a 2000 silver Accord. Just finished polishing it a few days ago - I used Meguiar's Ultimate Compound on a 5.5 inch orange LC CCS pad with my G110v2 and it did a beautiful job, leaving only the deeper defects (RIDS and some water etch marks). Since this car is black, I would try that and be prepared to follow up with something like PO85rd on a gray CCS pad for maximum clarity. Just my two cents. I'll get pictures of the Accord up later tonight.
