The paint looks like someone washed it with steel wool...

If you're attending this Mobile Tech Expo 2014 then you'll likely see pictures from this project in the power point presentation for my rotary buffer class.

Mobile Tech Expo 2014 - Class Schedule

That class is scheduled for 11:00am in the Curacao rooms 3 & 4

:)

I really like these cars a lot. When I was young, my buddy's grandfather had a yellow one just like that. I'm not exactly sure why I like them, but I really do!

In for the rest of the pics next week!:props:

I've always loved those Eprit's. I really look forward to seeing that car restored to it's original glory...or better!

Oh wow.. Can't wait to see the finished product!!

350 hp from a twin turbo V8, boy have times changed in 14 yrs! It gets a lot of looks, used to work at a Lotus dealership in Michigan and we had a couple but parking the car was a nightmare (not as bad as a Pantera though!), not very good vision and the car is really not what a Lotus should ever have been (see Elan and Elise/Exige for instance) Its the perfect car for FLA though, straight line performance w/ looks that attract the woman.

Loooooooove this car! Make it beautiful

I just have to say, those cars (that era of supercar) are more beautiful than any car out there, interior AND exterior. I love the dash, the REAL transmission (no silly paddles), the round gauges (no digital displays) LOVE it. Can't wait to see how you make it look, Mike!

Interestingly enough though, that steering wheel looks 100% IDENTICAL to the steering wheel in my 1993 Saturn I had a long time ago. IDENTICAL. The saturn emblem was even indented into the wheel in the same way. Same little raised ridges where you press to honk the horn, you name it. Guess they were sourcing parts from GM! Every once in a while you see a super car with a GM headlight switch or a Ford HVAC control panel or something like that. Last minute part sourcing or whatever. Kinda funny!

Hey Roman, next time you see a Noble M400, check out the tailights, mid 90's Hyundai Optima and engine is Ford Taurus 3.0L Duratec.

Believe it or not...

I'm thinking about taking a wool pad on a rotary buffer to it tomorrow.

Do what I call chopping...

Chopping out the deeper swirls and scratches.

Have to sleep on it. Wish I could set-up a web cam, this would be a fun project to just let you guys watch.

A webcam sounds like a GREAT idea! Do it in a Google Hangout!

By the way, have you heard about the new google "Helpouts?" For the stuff you do Mike, I think it would be awesome. Basically, it's like a Google "hangout", but you teach a class, with feedback from the 'viewers', and you charge the viewers a set price to participate in the 'class'. I bet there's folks who'd pay to watch you do a project like this if they could interrupt you and ask questions and ask you to re-do something or demonstrate something further!

Just some food for thought!

Well, I've NEVER seen a Noble in real life, so I doubt I'll see it! LOL

The engine thing is actually fairly common. Especially from Ford, really. Heck, the Ariel Atom has a Honda or GM 4 cylinder engine in it! (At least, it did originally). It makes sense if you think about it. Why re-engineer the wheel? The duratec 3.0 is a solid and reliable platform proven to take forced induction really well. Tweak it and trim it, and you've got a sportscar platform!

Very awesome! I recently did a 97 purple one and boy it was nice. It loved D300 Meg's MF/cutting but the "hood" out back took M101 to level down the deeper imperfections! Very interested to see your results! :props::Picture:

It could be because of one of the following reasons:

Hmmmm. Interesting. The finish is the state of shape that would require that aggressive combo?

Not calling you out Mike, just dosent look bad enough from the pictures for that level of aggressiveness.

Your the man, and we are the students. Will be watching for the write up.

I know the pictures don't do the damage justice, I took these at night with my cell phone.

The swirls and scratches are pretty bad though I want to chop them out as fast as possible.

Of course... I'll do a Test Spot first and dial in a process that works on one small section and then we'll repeat this process over the rest of the car.

This car only has 9000 miles on it and this is the original paint. PJ and I just finished washing it and now it's in the garage ready for mechanical decontamination.

We used Iron X to chemically decontaminate the paint and I have pictures of the bleeding effect.

Here's a picture of the car stretching....

Time to get back out to the garage and get to work!
