Detailed this 2001 740i today. Sorry about the lack of many afters. As is the norm lately, it was completely dark by the time I finished. But I think the progress shots get across how it was improved.

I started off on the hood with the PC, #83 and a cutting pad - it barely made a dent in the swirls. So it was out with the PC and in with the Hitachi.

Process was...

Wash
Clay
OP yellow edge pad @ 1500 - couple passes in certain areas
OP blue edge pad @ 1100
Souveran

Some befores...

Doesn't look so bad until it's been washed and some light is put on it...

Here's after the first pass of OP at 1500rpm with the yellow edge pad. Still a bit of swirlling left, but the finish pass improved it more. Probably got it about 90% swirl free. Just didn't have the time to get it as perfect as I would've liked. BTW, some of those blemishes are nicks in the paint. Nothing I can do about that.

The amount of OP I used for the trunk on the finish pass...

And the trunk after some Souveran..

And that's all! It was completely dark by the time the car was done. I think the progress shots get across just what an improvement the OP did. The Souveran was just icing on the cake. :)

Wow Op worked great, the looks amazing great work!

WOO that looks awesome. I need to get me some of that Souveran. j/k I love that stuff. :) If you don't have it, BUY IT.

After seeing this I now know that on my next order to AG that I need to include Souveran. Sevenrd you did an awesome job on the 740i. Mike...

GREAT JOB! Good to see I'm not the only Black Bimmer "corrector" out there!

Very nice looking car for a 2001.

Thanks for posting .... u-da-man!

Sevenrd, Beautiful Job. The car look great. I'll be glad when the days start getting longer.

Man-o-man, that is one choice turnaround!

What sealant did you use?

Love the trunk shots, and I still believe the E38 7 Series is more classy and solid then the new 7.

That Souveran hood picture is crazy! I love it!

You did an awesome job on that one. Reflection shot is outta this world, Souveran kicks A$$.

Awesome! Was clear coat so hard that you needed a rotary?

It was single-stage paint. It's not that it was particularly hard, it was just heavily swirlled. The PC would've taken too long. I actually did two passes on a portion of the hood with the PC using with Meg's 83. There was definite improvement, but still a lot of swirllng left. That's when I decided the rotary would be the better tool for the job.

Thanks for the kind words, everyone!

I see.

Sevenrd, awesome work there.
(OP yellow edge pad @ 1500 - couple passes in certain areas) I haven't used the yellow pad with my rotary yet. Eh, that's scary to me, oh well I need to give that a try.LOL
(OP blue edge pad @ 1100) I always thought that pad was for LSP. I learned something new.
Great work my man.

Great work, love those reflection pictures. Souveran on black is just plain gloss.

Toto, you do absolutely amazing work on those Bimmers. I really appreciate the comments. Your work kicks butt on mine. Maybe someday...if I ever go full time with this...I'll make a run at you. ;)

And Sparkie, the yellow/blue pad combo with OP worked great. I was really impressed with OP on this detail. Using the yellow edge pad gave me the cut needed to remove some pretty major defects. I had some stronger polishes at hand, but really didn't want to deal with the dusting and quick breakdown. I decided that if I could find the right OP/pad combo to achieve what I was after I'd go that route, and if not I'd switch to a stronger polish. The yellow pad with OP did the trick. And finishing with the blue pad basically let OP do its work to clear up the finish without the pad doing much cutting. No dusting, long work times. I have an order in for OC and OHC. :)

Because I finished this car after sunset, I followed-up with the owner in case he came across any holograms the next day. He reported none. If OC and OHC work as well as OP, I'll be using them exclusively untill/unless something better comes around. My other polishes work well, but the minimal dust and incredibly long work times put, at least OP, in a different class. Hopefully OC and OHC will perform similarly.

Man, I need to take some classes on using a rotary! What does everyone think about AG posting some videos of how to use a rotary, like the "how to" videos with the PC? Looks outstanding.....I'm sure the customer was impressed!

Oh that would be awesome if AG did that dengood1. You got my vote for it.

That BMW looks very nice, amazing the difference you made on it. It looks really good.
