Bought this 2005 Cadillac. Previous owner was brutal to it. Lots of scratches. Looks like it was washed with a dirty towel full of gravel. Porter Cable DA on 5.5 and a yellow pad with Poor Boys SSR 3.0 isn't enough. Any suggestions on what else I can try?

I have not used those products, so i can't comment on them. With the PC you want to be on speed 6, mark your backing plate apply enough pressure but not enough to stop the pad from spinning. 5-6 cross hatch passes

Ouch. SSR3 is like liquid sand paper. Is it not removing the defects or just not enough?

The last Cadillac I did I had to hit pretty hard. I used menz fg400 and a meguiars cutting microfiber pad. Honestly if they were looking for perfect I would have pulled out the rotary because what I did improved it a ton but still left alot of defects behind.

Cadillac tends to be pretty hard in my experience. My silver 2005 CTS-V was rock hard as well, Flex3401, B&S MF pad and FG400 hit it pretty goos, still wasn't perfect.

Cranked it up to 6. Did the hood roof and trunk again.
It's coming around slowly. I hear Cadillac clear is really hard. I tend to believe it. Can't get a good pic with my phone. I need an old school wool pad and some heavy cutting polish for this thing.

I took the liberty of re-posting your pic in full size.

You should definitely look into getting some Meg's MF cutting pads and Meg's MF Correction compound! I corrected and coated a 2008 Cadillac Hearse that was swirled up pretty badly and got excellent results using the previously mentioned products.

Older gm paints are hard so get the MF pads.
