I am ready to restore the outside of my M3. It lived mostly in a garage in NYC until 25k miles this past January. It had a bit of 'roughness' to the surface and the typical front end blems.

I have a dr. color chip kit and Meg's #83, 80, 5, 7, 9, Gold Class Wax. #21. Last Touch, 135, etc.

Recently I suffered getting something like tar (tried hard on the surface) and my windshield smashed by one of three trucks in front of me all driving side by side on I95 :( so I need to re-do the front half of the car anyway.

Clay helped a lot but didn't take off the tar stuff. 93% isopropyl didn't dent it either. It was hard to get off with a finger nail, but #83 with elbow grease got it off.

It was raining, but I have a porter cable and the wave 2000 system with all the pads.

If I am going to do this deep dive into refinishing the car, are there better products in the past couple years. I need more #83 anyway.

The clay I use is the clay magic blue. There was a supplier with generic clay about 1/2 to 1/4 the price, but they went out of business long ago. Their clay was superior.

Also is blue tape the best method to protect sunroof felt still...I just had that re-done due to a quick detail center obliterating mine with a rotary plus not really fixing much.

If anyone has product recommendations that work well on this car let me know. I have since discovered Leatherique (didn't use it yet) and Gliptone (love this for my leather). Interior is mostly new still, been using 303 protectant and cleaner on the surfaces.

I am used to Japanese cars lately and have heard 'german' paint is more hard esp. BMW. Just want to minimize my detailing time without needing to go to a Flex unit.
