Hey Guys! Recently Bought a 2006 Chevy Silverado with absolutely trashed paint. I have some pics and a video below of the results. Couple late nights there in the video and I start to get a little loopy. I must say I've never used so many polishes, pads, and polishers on one single vehicle before. I also want to thank Wills and Dani of Windows and Wheels Auto Detailing for getting me setup with some extra pads in desperate times. I threw everything I had at the paint and went over most spots twice in the compound stage. I used nanoskin mild towel to start out then compounding I tried Megs 100, FG400, Adapt and finally did the majority of the paint with Megs 105 and a Megs Microfiber Cutting Pad on my flex 3401. Smaller areas had to be done with a 3" Megz Microfiber Cutting Pad on my Makita 9227c and even smaller areas had to be done with a 2" Harbor Freight polisher and microfiber cutting pads I received from Kevin Brown. The polishing stage was done with Lake Country Hybrid White Pads and black 2" pads for smaller areas using HD Polish. The truck started out at high 3 and low 4 mils with the exception of the tailgate which had low 3's. I did cut and polish on the bed and it measured 2.7 mils after all was said and done. There is 1 long scratch left on the passenger front of the truck which will have to be touched up somehow and there are still some residual scratches here and there but they will have to stay as I already mowed down the paint quite a bit. In the end I have to live with the idea that before me the truck was used as a truck and not a garage queen. Lastly I wiped down the car and sealed it with Gtechnique Exo V2. I must say that it is about the slickest coating I have ever felt and it brought out quite a bit of gloss. I am excited to test the hydrophobic properties of the product as well but that will be for another day. The pics are great but the video (a little slow) shows much more before and afters.

This is how the truck was purchased and brought home for a wash.

Looks great! That red POPS now! I did a 2006 Silverado SS in Black. I found the paint very hard. The hood was a real challenge as I worked with a Porter Cable. Nice work. Enjoy your "new" truck!

Funny how when I saw the back ground I new it was in Arizona!
Lol, if I found a job that paid the same I would live there from here in Bay Area Cali.

Anyways, nice results OP. I'm a noob when it comes to DA polishing and just purchased a griots setup, for my car and bike.

Nice turnaround, lot of work but it payed off nicely. Looks like ya need a tailgate bezel. A few years ago the SS color matching bezels were readily available but they're pretty are hard to find today.

E-bay has the ABS textured bezels that match your door handle buckets really cheap. You can also get the smooth bezel that you can color match, it's pretty cheap also. HERE

It's getting hard to find regular cab silverado/sierras still in good shape these days. Most around my area are extended cabs.

Love the color :)... need some paint?

Looking real sharp man great work. Bright red paint is so rewarding to work with.

Your pics are far too large. Make them smaller pls.
This is a very wide post to look at. Wow.

No issues here with the pics either.

OP - stunning! That paint was hammered, great transformation! Out of curiosity, how many pads did you end up going through?

Well my microfiber cutting pads from meguiars didn't quite hold up but all my other foam pads made it no problem.

Not here. I have to move it to the right about 5 clicks to see any part of the truck.
For me it is way too wide to see on my computer. I'm out.

Beautiful transformation that you achieved with your good work. Thanks for sharing. Also, a beautiful home and neighborhood! I live on the east coast, and your pics show a totally different environment. You're blessed.
