I had the absolute pleasure of detailing this 2007 Aston Martin DB-9 Volante Convertible with 1682 miles. The vehicle retailed for approximately $200,000 and is equipped with a 6.oL V12 with 450HP. This is the 1st real detail it’s received other that the standard valet parker scratch & wash special which was quite obvious by the before pictures to follow. Because I was doing 2 vehicles this day (07 Bentley GTC Con’vt), I decided to undertake the help of fellow AutoGeek
jgh1987 (Josh). Josh helped me prep both vehicles and did a lot of the “cleaning & protecting” (under my supervision) which allowed me to focus my efforts on the exterior correction. There really wasn’t any wasted time spent and this freed up so much more to be done to clean, correct and protect both vehicles in the 14 hrs allowed by the customer. Here’s what we did:

Prep:

Wash with Auto Magic (AM) Wash & Wash via Foam Gun
EDGE Grout Sponge (beta tested) & HD GS
AM Magnificent Wheel Cleaner scrubbed via synthetic wash mitt
AM Blue Clay Magic w/ AM Body Shine lube – examined with Cellophane which enhances your ability to feel contamination
Hand dried with cotton towels
All cracks and crevices blown out with Craftsman 1HP / 12 Gallon Compressor

After polishing each section, I spurred my pad & blew out the CCS pockets with compressed air to prevent dry buffing of old polish.

Afters: towards the end of the detail session it rained & I was forced to keep the car inside. The only outside shots that were taken was when the owner took delivery of it & there was unfortunately no full sun shots (overcast). The car looked totally amazing & the metallic was very intense.

David..congrats on that beautiful job..boy would I love to get my hands on an A.M.! If I ever win the bloody lottery, one of those puppies would be in my garage as soon as the cheque clears. Love to see Menz in action too. I also found it great you enlisted the help of a fellow 'geek! I wish I lived close to you!

Love DB9's, only GT style car I'd buy especially since you can get them with a manual trans, just oozes sex and presence. Heffners was trying to mod a V8 Vantage but ran into trouble tuning it, going to take more time to crack ecu. I wouldn't mind a TT DB9 :D
