Got a 2007 Chev SS Paint Correction in and the paint had seen better days. Started off washing, then claying, next applying wax and grease remover to front of hood and repairing some rock chips. After the chips were dry I sanded with 2500 grit wet and moved on to compounding the paint with Megiuars 105. After M105 I used Megiuars 205 finishing polish and sealed the paint with Klasse AIO and Klasse Glaze. These are pictures of only the glaze final, after the photo shoot was done I went over it with Pinnacle Series II paste wax after the glaze had time to set up.

This project took 23 hrs to complete but I am happy with the outcome and the customer was extremely thrilled.

Looks brand new, perhaps better.

agree so much. i always think that after proper polish it will look better than when it was new first came out of the dealer lots... perhaps i have not got a new car for too long and missed the shine.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

Thanks guys. Ended up leaving a few deep RIDS but lessened them out alot.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

You should do the owner a favor and take off the cheesy SS badges that never Came on a GMC. Nice work by the way.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

I noticed the SS badges as well, they look like they are upside down.

OMG you are so right! This is a *&%^ up on my part. The truck is a Chevy but I labeled it GMC in the thread.
I could use a little help on how to change the title and text in the thread. I cannot find any edit options to do this in my control panel. Does anyone know how to edit a thread that has posts on it? Any help would be greatly appreciated!Feed back please

Looks great!

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

Nice work Kevin!! As I was looking at the before photos I was thinking "With that hard GM paint, I bet that took a while to correct" 23 hours of straight cleaning, compounding and polishing wears you out don't it?

Truck looks great!! I too think the SS logos appear to be up side down, kind of looks like 66 instead of SS.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

Thanks Dave, it was a bit of time but I spread it out over a few evenings. Good thing I focus on the end result, or yes, it would get old quick with the amount of labor involved. Customer was happy and it always feels great to return a "better than new" vehicle.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

I used to under estimate the time involved in doing certain jobs and kill myself working around the clock to get them done. Now when I get a real tough job like the one you've posted here, I also do what you did here and keep the vehicle for a few days.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

I hear ya! Working around the clock means there is no time for hot tubs, whiskey or women. And that just seems WRONG to me.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

Nice job! 23 hrs is allot of work. Another vote for the SS emblems gotta go!........lol

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

Good looking truck and nice job!

+14 on SS emblems being upside down

Stunning work and even though it took an entire day the results speak for themelves! Nice using Klasse BTW, LOL!

Now as far as the SS emblems go, well, taking them off now could result in marks that WILL NOT COME OUT, why risk it, you know. My buddy Derek noticed the SS emblems being upside down from the factory years ago, good catch Derek. If they did some off, "old school" SS decals would look better IMO. Am I the only one that feels the need for a dash aplique kit to cover up the faux wood, I mean its a muscle truck afterall, why not some CF or brushed aluminum?

Nice work man! May I ask what you used to touch up the spots of paint?

I had the paint shop mix up some paint from the trucks paint code. Put on multiple thin coats on the chips, sanded after the 24 hr drying period and buffed the sand marks out with the M105.

Funny that people are saying the emblems are upside down. Through out the job I kept finding small paint runs here and there, I asked the owner if the truck had been repainted but it hadn't been to his knowledge. I am thinking there is a story in that truck some where.

Re: 2007 GMC SS Paint Correction

They don't look correct to me either. Check the other side of the truck and see what they look like.

I had an interesting thing happen to me while detailing a tahoe.

I used some APC+ mixed with some Mothers soap to strip and clean the paint. Don't recall the mix, but I didn't use but a little of the apc. Well, upon rinsing, the tahoe letters on the drivers door started sliding down the side of the truck. I mean, they seemed to move just a tad out of place. While drying the truck the little tad of emblem movement grew into them coming completely off...two of the five letters.

Of course, a bit of panic set in as it was my first full detail. I ended up going to the autoparts store and buying some 3M adhesive for the emblems and put them back on.

As I explained to my friend what had happened he mentioned that another detailer had fixed a few of the emblems as well. I agreed that he'd indeed fixed some letters and commenced to showing him all of the white glue he left between the letters. I then offered to fix it, but he declined. I also showed him the letters I fixed, and showed him how they supposed to look with no glue residue. He was pleased that I took the time to not have any excess glue showing at all, but still didn't want the other letters fixed. Oh well!
