Here is another special project. I think that the more special projects I do the less the “special” part becomes. Well the vehicle is a

2007 KenWorth Pumper, Firetruck

This vehicle is brand new, but was driven to Canada from the US so it did not look new, but that’s where I come in. This is now the second fire truck I do so the first one was some what of a pain but this one was quite simple. Well the process was as follows:

Started off with the rims, tires and wheel wells and here is what I was up against

Sprayed P21S Total Auto Wash on wheel wells and scrubbed with long brush

Then sprayed P21D Gel to rims

I followed the same process for all the rims/tires/wheel wells tires on this vehicle.

Here are pictures of the back tires

Once the rims, tires and wheel wells were done moved on to the rest of the vehicle. As previously mentioned the vehicle was driven back from the US so it had lots of goodies for me. I rinsed the entire vehicle with Deionized water, once it was completely wet I sprayed the entire vehicle with PoorBoys Bug Squash, then with the two bucket methord, instead of soap I used PoorBoys Bug Squash and went to work with both my white and black ShMITT. Rinsed with Deionized water section by section, when I had made my way around the entire vehicle I rinsed it again with Deionized water.

Apperently during the drive to Canada this light was falling off so duck tape was used to hold it in place. This is what was left after the removal of the duck tape.

Nothing I couldn't handle, well not that I did much I used my red Clay Magic bar and it removed everything. So credit should go to the clay bar not me.

Unfortunetly I couldn’t even put wax on this vehicle because it still needed some work to be done to it. But to satisfy my curiosity I wanted to see the shape of the paint on the vehicle. So I got my 3M Sun Gun out and I was shocked:

DSC05139.jpg

Not a single swirl, not bad.

So this was a simple wash (sure doesn’t look like with the amount of pictures I took hahahaha), but I had lots of fun with it.

Oh darn, I just remember I forgot to warn people about the amount of pictures but I'm sure you all know me and my triger happy finger.

As always, feed back (good or bad) is always welcome.

Nica, that is an amazing amount of work. It came out really nice too. So I guess that is the kind of work Fireman do when there's no fire. Maybe you could teach the proper way to clean the firetrucks!

Wow Nica, great work! That was a hugh job! Love the before and after on the mirror and wheels!

joe.p - thank you for the compliments bro, means a lot to me. Yea I know I'm slow at posting but it's just that I post so many pictues it takes me a wile to pick and choose let alone load them up.

Reddwarf - lol yea perhaps I should teach them how to clean the fire trucks properly but I'm afraid that these vehicles just yet a regular wash here and there. Thank you for the compliment.

Tonya - Thank you for the compliment, as for the size, size don't mean athing to me anymore. The bigger the vehicle the better the challenge, but I've yet to get a grater challenge then the airplane I detailed..now that was a challenge :righton: I look forward to another airplane if I'm lucky that is ;)

Wow - That is amazing! Great Job. How did you get involved with this detail?

Great Work!!
Eric

Great job Carlos, how long did it take you and did it fit in your garage? lol

ericfine50 - Thank you for the kind words, as to how I got my self this detail. Well a good friend of mine asked me if I would be interested on detailing a red fire truck, first fire truck I had ever detailed, I posted it here at AG as well...here is the link http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/show-n-shine/8771-special-project-ii-warning-lots-pictures.html Now my good friend is part owner of the place that sells these trucks and the other owner was impressed with the work I did on the first truck that my friend and partner wanted me to detail other trucks as they come. I got others lined up and the next one will be a challenge but I look forward to it. Again thank you for the kind words Eric, greatly appretiated.

bill walsh - Thank you for the feed back, glad you enjoyed it.

Great job Carlos, how long did it take you and did it fit in your garage? lol

This one was quite simple, it's to bad all I could do was wash it but I have to admit the vehicle was in good shape. It took me about 5hrs all together. After that I started chatting it up with the guys at the shop and boy it seems that I've impressed a few people there lol :o the gentleman I was speaking with was shoked to hear I did this as a "hobby" hahahahaha....oh and I wish I had a garage that big that would be wicked :righton: maybe one of these days I'll get a garage that big...boy I'm going to need alot of light ;) hahahaha. Thank you for the feed back buddy.

That looks great Carlos. Your really getting into detailing some big trucks. How long did it take you?

GREAT Work Nica! That rig is so big, I would not know where to begin!

The diamond plate came out stunning and I like your use of the deionized water...spot free!

Super Work Sir!

Toto

Gary - Thank you for the compliment, it took me about 5hrs in total. I honestly thought it would take me longer.

Toto - Thank you for the compliment, means a lot to me. As for the deionized water, that's all I use now specially on these big rigs. That way I don't have to worry about water spots.

your details are great to see theres not one person i've seen get the type of details you do...5 hrs is phenominal

Man Nica, you love detailing the big boy toys huh :D? That must've been fun. That big rig is very clean. I'm surprised there's not a swirl on it! I sorta cringed when I saw those scratches in the wheel wells, but they're just wheel wells :p. How do you get deionized water through that hose? And one more question, after you spray on P21S wheel gel cleaner, do you agitate it first then let it sit, or let it sit then agitate it?

Very cool great job! What was the dilution ratio of the Bug Squash wash water? I really want a CR system!!

joe.p - Thank you bro, means a lot to me but to be honest I've learned a lot from those UK guys. I take pride in the work I do, like I've said I aim for the stars every time I detail. But the UK detailers, man they are something else, I've been having phone conversations with a few of them and boy I've learned some wicked tips. Oh and yes 5hrs in my opinion was good, the odd thing though is that I got in the habit of not wearing a watch, rings oh and I now keep my finger nails nice and short so I don't induce any more scratches as I man handle the vehicle hahahaha...as I love to man handle the vehicles I detail. So as I was detailing this large truck I totally lost track of time and then when I looked at the time on my cell phone I realized it only took me about 5hrs...not bad and believe me I'm super slow.

klyzypinoy - Oh it was fun klumzy...lots of fun :righton: Oh and as for the lack of swirls, I found out the truck was originally a red colour (traditional colour) but the station where it's going only has these yellowish colour trucks so when it arrived to Calgary it had to be repainted. I have to give the shop that repainted some credit they did a reasonable job at it. I didn't ask where it was done though....but even then I would have expected more swirls but the Sun Gun showed minor micro marring but nothing really bad. As for the P21S, what I do is I rinse the rims first wait for the water to remove what it can then I spray the P21S Gel on the rims let it sit wile I work on the wheel wells and then I go and agitate the rims with my brush. As for the Deionized water, I use my CR Spotless System. It's a filter that produces Deionized water, basically removes all the contaminants from the water leaving you with 0PPM water that will basically give you no water spots as the vehicle air dries (here is the post when I received it plus other goodies http://www.autogeekonline.net/forum/detailing-tools-accessories/8467-new-arrivals.html). I'm really enjoying using the Deionized water, I don't really have to hand dry the vehicle, I could literally let it air dry but like I said I enjoy man handling the vehicles I detail so I dry all the vehicles with my Cobra and Guzzler towels. I hope this helps buddy and thank you for the compliment.

trl2112 - The ratio for the Bug Squash and water was 1:1, I neede it to be strong becuase it was covered in bugs and other contaminents. As for the CR Spotless System, I'm very pleased with my purchase :D money well spent if you ask me. Glad you enjoyed the detail.
