I recently purchased the PC7424XP kit with Megs 105 and 205 and various pads from autogeek.
My first detail with it was on my black 2004 Dodge Ram 1500 and it came out excellent!! (sorry, no pics from that)
This past weekend i decided to tackle the wife's black 2007 Mazda6. A little background on the car:
Purchased new in 07, not much done other than normal washes, waxed 2-3 times a year. Car hasnt had much love, pretty much family taxi for carting around our 3 year old and 7 month old.
The process:
Wash with Megs Deep Crystal Wash
Dried with Water Magnet
Clayed with Megs Smooth Surface clay
Megs Ultimate Compound v/ orange cut pad
Wash with Megs Deep Crystal Wash
Megs 205 w/ grey finishing pad
Megs NXT 2.0 w/ red soft buff pad (x2)
Bear with the pics, using cheap point and shoot camera
Here are the before shots:
After first wash:
Here is a shot of the clay after 1 pass on 1/2 of the hood, ended up claying the whole car twice:
Test Spot Before:
Test Spot after UC and 205:
For this being the 2nd vehicle i've details with the DA, i must say the paint on the Mazda was much harder than on my Dodge. UC removed only the lightest scratches on the Mazda where as on my Dodge it removed light and medium. I'd say overall that 75% of the swirls and lighter scratches were removed. I wasnt going for 100% perfection as this is basically "the family truckster" and would magically develop a new scratch by the end of the week lol.
Some pics after the 205:
And some shots of the completed project. Sorry for no outside shots, didn't finish til late so all i have are some garage shots:
I'd say overall i have about 8 hours of work invested on the outside. No where near the quality of some of the member's work here but i think it's a good start.
Coming from using a small orbital buffer, i cant praise the PC DA enough!!
