2008 Acura TSX with a lot of oxidation. Turns out that half the car had single stage paint. From that point on I was kinda sceptical about the cars history? Owner said they were the second owner and the car fax was clean. I think this car has some secrets... With that I couldn't hit this car too hard since the paint was super soft. There was a lot more I would have liked to get, but wasn't going to risk damage to the paint. This was one of those deals where you just make it the best it can be for what it is. If I were to do this car over again I would have used some Megs #7 glaze first... Just used some of my menz PF on an orange LC pad after a bath and some iron-x. Nothing fancy...

Wow, you did a heck of a job on that Acura. I love red colors.

I was also wondering How do you tell whether the paint is soft or not.

I was getting pretty good correction with and orange pad, menz PF with my flex on 3. With the correction I was getting at such a low speed lead me to believe its soft? Maybe I'm wrong?

Nope, you are correct. I own a 2006 TSX and it's one of the softest paints I ever touched. If you look at it too hard it swirls! Nice work btw.

Nice job!

You are right about the paint being super soft, however it is not a single stage paint. This color is known as Milano Red Tricoat... it has a tinted clear coat, which would be why you may have thought it was a single stage paint. If you took any paint thickness measurements, I'm sure you also found that the paint was pretty thin. (My dad has this same car)

I recently detailed this exact car and, knowing beforehand that it had very soft paint, decided to start with just a black finishing pad and M205... this was all I needed to remove swirls and straight line scratches. Definitely some very soft paint!

Great job!!! I love the 50/50 shots. They really show a big difference especially that the paint is oxidized.

The Milano red paint is tinted clear coat and not single stage. If that was single stage, your pads would be a lot more red than that.

This is the first time coming across this type of paint for me. I've one done a couple other SS paint cars. When I saw the red on the pad I just assumed it was SS. Learned something new and yes the paint reading I was getting were low 80's-110's
