I am looking for some advice here. The car is a 2008 Scion tC - almost 4 years old, never garaged, never waxed. I washed it yesterday. Taped it this morning. My equipment: Cyclo with green pads (I do not have any orange pads) and Griots 3 inch polisher. I started with the Cyclo with green pads and XMT medium swirl remover. I just was not pleased with how the hood was coming out. Still some light scratches and there is evidence of some light staining. The rest of the car came out better. I think the large horizontal surface of the hood took a beating over the years. I switched to the Griots 3 inch for some small areas like under the trunk lid, mirrors, A pillar. Much better results than anything that I did with my Cyclo. The Griots came with an orange pad which is much firmer than my green Cyclo pads. So my question is: would I fare much better if I had the Orange pads for my cyclo? Do I need something more aggresive than the XMT medium swirl remover? Is my Cyclo suitable for my all around poilsher? Thanks! Susan

did you clay bar the car first? use swirl remover glaze and sealant?

What color is the car? You might need some orange pads and a more aggressive polish.

OK - here's the update. I receievd XMT 360 and orange pads yesterday and today I have SUCCESS! The Pinnacle XMT 360 worked well in mt Scion tC which is Black Cherry in color. I think I needed the orange pads. The only problem I encountered is that the pads seem to soak up a lot of the polish. I put a good dent in that 16oz container. Can anyone give me a rule of thumb - that is, how much polish is used in buffing a car?
