2012 Camaro Prices

As long as they don't tinker with the retro '69 look. At some point, they will....that's why I bought mine when I did.

Price aside, I would like to see the Camaro get lighter, as the Stangs currently have a power/weight advantage.

Love mine...its been a long time since I was so excited to get in a car every day, and enjoy the experience of that distinctive retro Camaro look, backed up with incredible technology and excellent handling (and more ponies than my '69 ever had, not to mention a whole lot better gas mileage).

Like I said, they have a winner now, but at some point, it will change to something that perhaps won't look anything like the 5th generation (2010-2012) units.

I think they're working on a new platform that will reduce the overall weight. However that's not going to be in time for the ZL-1s.

I was all set to get a Camaro earlier this year...until I sat in one. I'm only 6 feet tall and my head hit the head headliner on the sunroof models, and was within half an inch of it on the non sunroof models. I understand this is a sports car, but I thought that was a little crazy...

I love the look of the Camaro, but until it shrinks in size and loses some weight I think the Mustang will stay the superior car. Looking forward to seeing the next-gen Camaro though.

The 1969 have been and will always be my favorite year for Camaro's.

I'd love to have one professionally built from all after-market new technology parts from the 502ci 502hp big block motor, to engineered suspension, a 6 speed transmission, electrical and electronics.. I know, I'm dreaming again...

I couldn't have put it better Jim! :dblthumb2:

That's what I'm waiting for them to tinker with. I was so disappointed with they way they turned out. It was nice to see how well Dodge did on recreating the Challenger.

While I think Dodge did a better job of holding true to the retro look of the Challenger, I think GM did a nice job of recreating the look of the '69 with a more modern touch.

Indeed. The 6th-generation Camaro will be moved to the "Alpha" rear-drive platform, to be shared with the new small Cadillac ATS sedan. The ATS will be produced at the Grand River Assembly plant here in Lansing where I live, and rumor has it the Camaro may move to be built here as well.

Supposively the next gen Camaros are going to be small like the 2000s GTOs. If they make them small like those and keep the bigger engines than the mustangs, the mustangs don't stand a chance. Especially once Chevy puts the direct injected small block v8s in them. And there is a rumor that the v6s will have an option to be turboed.

The new 5.0 puts out basically as much hp as the 6.2 in the Camaro. Just sayin'. I don't think power is a problem for either car.

Have you seen The 8sec 2011 5.0? Quite amazing for a 5.0 and not a big 6.3.... Just saying.

Yar. Never was a fan of the porky GT till the 2011 5.0 /drool. Monsters for the price that you can get them out the door for.

Good luck to GM and the ZL-1, but to bad that car will be held back by its weight and the Corvette.

Just thought I'd post this in case anyone's interested. I don't think I'm breaking any forum rules by putting this here. Unfortunately it doesn't look like the ZL-1 is priced yet.

2012 Camaro Pricing Released - 2011 Camaro ZL1 Camaro Forum / Camaro SS and V6 Forums - Camaro5.com

Hope the 2012 ZL1, opted out to SLP Performance for conversion, is a little cheaper than SLP's 2011 ZL1 version. SLP was allowed by GM to build 69 units with an LS7 (custom-built 427) with a Magna Charger TVS 2300 supercharger for tuning purposes. Along with this engine set-up, SLP throws in some of their goodies.

SLP's conversion price: $80,000; plus,

You must supply a 1SS or 2SS for them to convert. $110,000 or more....:wow:

Personally I don't like the Magna Charger superchargers...SLP has had trouble with those units on other Camaro conversions.

Let's go another way:

1. Buy a V8 Camaro of your choice..................$30-40,000

2. Go with a ProCharger supercharger..............$ 8,000

3. Custom exhaust(headers & all the way back)$ 3,500

4. Custom wheels.........................................$ 3,000

Around $55,000. Add in a few other goodies for $3,000 or so.
And you don't have to send your Camaro to SLP!

Bob

Good looking car, but it would be hard for me to buy one over a mustang or gasp...even a 370z.

I havent seen a new 2011 camaro make it into the 10s or 9s without a blower... Just saying.

I haven't seen a mustang reach 8s without being blown so no matter which way you go you have to get a supercharger and ps it's a 6.2 not a 6.3 get your facts straight :props:

What makes you think you NEED a supercharger to get those numbers? With deep enough pockets almost any number can be achieved by a naturally aspirated engine ;)
