So, I purchased the car and received some dealership swirls...

Started working this morning around 9:30am.
Taking a break for the moment and thought I'd show my progress.
After Wolfgang Swirl remover.

I still have the roof to finished with WGSR, and then I'm moving on to their finishing glaze. I feel like all the bad swirls are out, but there are some minor imperfections every here and there. This is the first time I've used my 7424, so I pretty happy with the results at this stage.

Another panel, top was done, but not the bottom half:

Both portions complete:

Time to grab a snack and a drink and then get back to work!

Why didnt u get the golf r!??!

I actually have a friend that did, but I couldn't justify the value.
My car is about 11k less than the starting Golf R.
And plaid seats are totally my thing....although not everyone loves that.

Ohh i see, i recently saw the golf R around my area, and i was like wth is this, looks awesome, and i went home and looked it up, it's got some pretty impressive specs.

But anyways im not a crazy car person, so i did not even know the new release of the R.

Lmk how the GTI drives =] because i wanted to get one too last year, but i got a WRX at the end

Geeeesh! Is that brand new? Holy dealer installed buffer trails, batman!

Someone needs to be fired. I dread to think what the rest of the cars on their lot look like.

Nice correction! Great color.

Great turn around. Always liked the GTI's.

I guess your signed up for the DISO option, as well call it here.

Yea. I bought it on April 17 with 63 miles. They really mangled the thing.

Gotta say, Wolfgang finishing glaze after swirl remover is beautiful. Bringing that image clarity to life!

+1 for plaid.

I assume the plaid pattern is the same in 2010 and 2012 both being MarkVI. Here's a background I use on my iPhone that matches my seats.View attachment 11669

There's also a Firefox theme. Search for mark 6 GTI or Interlagos.

Car is looking really good after the sealant cured. Sadly I just had to drive in the rain (its had more than enough curing time), but at least the beading is beautiful. I'd post a picture if it wasnt still raining.

So my initial polish + WGDGPS application after two weeks is holding up to rain drives and 3 washes since:

Not to mention my first time using my bike rack on the car, which is some what of a nightmare when you're trying to keep a car pristeen, but no way around it, so I have to deal with it and live life:

After today's wash, I decided to add some Meguirs Quik Wax that I had laying around. Only used it once before on my prior car, but it comes out buttery smooth.

Reflection quality is great if not for grainy iPhone camera with the lighting available in the garage.

Was washing the car today and noticed this guy =[

Little chip that seems to go through all the paint.

Super bummer, no idea where it came from in the past week. Will have to figure out what to do here. Hate when I don't even know where chips and dings came from (this is the first chip on this car @ 675 mi, but my previous car had 31k when I traded it in with 2 little ding dents and I never knew where those came from either...upsetting).

I love the GTI's. I fell in love with them during my freshman year of college when one of my good friends had out. I've wanted one ever since . . . great job!

Yeah, I love the car.

I'm thinking in a week or two I'm going to go over the hood and hatch panels again since they're littered with RIDs that were under the DISO I received the car with. Now that I'm more comfortable with the 7424XP I think I'll be able to handle it more confidently than my first go around.

Will also have to spot check other areas and make sure they're good, but I know the hood and hatch definitely could use some finer detail.

Removing material is not the answer here, ADDing material is!

Langka kit for you buddy.

Or a glaze until you get the Langka, I recommend Poorboy's Black Hole Glaze for dark paints, it will do wonders!

Yeah, I figured I'd have to fill it with something. Wasn't provided any touch up with this car. I'll have to look at what the Langka kit is, I'm not really familiar with it other than a very quick search seeing it's a fill kit.
(Oh, and for clarity, I wasn't implying I needed to buff the back end because of that chip, there are RIDs in the curves of the back that I wasn't getting good rotation on during my first try of the 7424.)

Definitely need to do something before long as I don't want it to grow and manifest like a cancer. Can't believe I already have a chip like this.

Yeah, it happens..

The Langka kit ($39) is basically a clear coat that works on top of the touch up paint.
First you add the touch up paint, then you remove the glob, then you add the clear coat material. Once the new clear coat is cured, you will have to polish a bit again with a PCXP, but at least you will be doing it safely.

Once you're finished, I'd say invest on something like Opti-Coat or CQuartz..

When I have to transport my DeVinci Wilson (I ride downhill bikes) on the back of my Gallardo, i usually wrap everything up with several micro fiber towels, specially the pedals and the ends of the handlebar. Looks funny, but you gotta do what you gotta do.

What I found with my GTi when I had it was the rear would always be the dirtiest part of the car. I remember reading something on the vortex about the wind pattern the car creates as it's driving causes all of the dirt, dust, and debris to be sucked into the rear of the car. Might want to apply an extra layer of LSP onto the rear to help protect and make cleaning easier.

I would see if the Dr. Colorchip would help fill/hide the chip and RIDS you're finding. I've been wanting to try the kit out but haven't bothered to order it yet.

Yea, so I've learned flat back vehicles, especially close to the ground, all pick up a lot of extra debris on the tail. Could be Part because of that, but wish I knew what caused the chip. Not that it changes the fact that I need to fix it.

I don't know if you have it in the US but I just bought a touch-up pencil set for a Mk6 2011 Golf that belongs to my wife. It comes with paint and clear coat (you just have to go to your users manual and check the exact colour code) and I got it at a VW official dealer (its quite inexpensive).

I might have to ask the dealer for that.
I just looked it up real quick and it looks like they have color and clear coat pens. Would be really simple for how small this chip is. Would like to fill it in, give it a little time and then buffer the whole hatch since it has some RIDs that need handled outside of the chip.

Thanks for the info.
