I'm surprised I haven't seen anyone post this yet. Along with several other new vehicles that were unveiled in New York last week, the 2013 SRT (no longer DODGE) Viper was one of them.

"After a gut-wrenching period of uncertainty, the Street and Racing Technology brand team is extremely proud that our hand-built in Detroit, flagship supercar is back and ready to take on the performance car world," said Ralph Gilles, President and CEO - Street and Racing Technology Brand and Motorsports, Chrysler Group LLC. "Beyond being the flagship for the new SRT brand, the launch of the 2013 Viper proves that we simply would not let the performance icon of the Chrysler Group die. Willed to live on by a very special group of performance enthusiasts inside the company and across Viper Nation, this SRT team under our new leadership was challenged to not just continue the legendary Viper, but to create a world-class supercar that would showcase the very best

Preliminary performance ratings for the SRT-engineered V-10 Viper are 640 horsepower and 600 lb.-ft. of torque - the most torque of any naturally aspirated engine in the world."

Yay or Nay? :)

SRT Viper GTS (2013)

Yay. Kept the look of the old Viper, but made it more curvy. Yet still aggressive looking. I wanna see whats under the hood!

We don't know a lot about the new Viper other than it appears to be very similar to it's predecessor. It's long and nose heavy but it does have a good deal of horsepower.

For now I'll just give it an OK Nick.

Yay on beauty!

Nay on the fact that Im pretty sure Ive gotten to fat to get in and out of that ride :( (love my truck lol)

I vote yay

That car is sexy. It's like they took the Old Viper and gave it a super sexy makeover + that interior is so Euro and classy. I'm loving the new Dodge interiors, far from their previous standard cheap and nasty design.

I hope this is a sign of things to come from Dodge.

Rumours are though that it will be a 100k$+ car and at that price point with myself being a Mustang guy I would get a 2013 Shelby GT500 at 650 hp and 600 ft/lbs torque for around 60k and with an upgrade to the pulley, tune and methanol/water injection you could be hitting that 800 hp level

I think it looks great minus the headlights..they just look like the wrong shape and to small for the size of the car.

Nay

Its only 500 horsepower 525 lb.ft of torque. I read somewhere (cant for the life of me remember which forum exactly) but the MSRP for a base GTS is projected to be around $137,000. I would rather buy a 2013 GT500 that has 650 hp and 600 lb-ft of torque, with a MSRP of ony $54,200.

*edit*
2011Mustang5.0 beat me to it.
Great minds think alike:xyxthumbs:

BIG YAY:dblthumb2::dblthumb2::dblthumb2:

You can see the original GTS there for sure but a look that's more evolutionary than anything, great job by Chrysler and its new, infused Italian blood!

I agree with you. The Viper is nice, but too pricy for me. Of course, I am too practical to get either one of these beasts. Maybe some day!

Great looking car. I consider the Viper to be an emerging American icon.

HP doesnt mean everything..I will bet this car comes in like 500lb lighter then the GT500 and will be able to put the power to the road much better. it may be more expensive but its not a mass produced car either. Also i will bet it will destroy the GT500 in handling as well.

Aren't all Vipers notorious for not being able to hook up because of the massive amount of horsepower and being front heavy.

Good point, The Viper is 3,230lbs and the GT500 3850lbs. Both cars will have issues laying the power to the pavement. I would hope that the extra 150 horsepower and 75 lb.ft of torque the GT500 has would be more than enough to make up for the 620lbs of weight. If its not however, for the $80k I would save by getting the GT500, I am sure I could invest some of that into the GT500 to make it far superior to the Viper while still having money in my pocket when its all said and done.

Don't get me wrong here, the Viper appears to be a nice car. However, it is simply too expensive for what it offers.

Yay, awesome job in the looks department. They even improved the interior. It'll be interesting to see how it performs on the track. They decided to keep it a v10 and not offer a HEMI version.
