On Saturday we picked up my wife's new 2014 Ford Fusion Hybrid in the beautiful Sunset color. Then I spent the rest of the weekend working on the finish. I had purchased the PBL Elite Kit ahead of time and was ready to go!

Wash (Zaino Z7)

Dry with electric blower and Cobra Guzzler MF towels

Did the baggie test, it was slightly bumpy on the horizontal panels, especially the hood. Vertical panels were fine. I clayed the horizontal panels with a Meg's clay bar.

Inspected the paint, the DISO was very minor, better than I was expecting.
Taped off all the rubber & trim (what a pain!) and then I took care of what was there with Wolfgang Finishing Glaze on my PC 7424 XP and a blue pad.

Then I machine applied PBL Surface Cleansing Polish with a black pad over everything that wasn't taped down, paint, chrome trim, windows, lights. Did the wheels with finger applicator. Those gaps between the spokes are narrow and those finger applicators worked great.

Applied the PBL Paint Coating, Glass Coating, and Wheel Coating with the foam applicators, buffing off the high spots right away with the green MF towel from the kit. Those green towels are amazing.

Let it set up over night then un-taped it.

Here are the results (Sorry for the no photo skills with the iPone camera). I am impressed with how wet it looks, I don't feel like I need to add anything else to it. Also the wheels seem much brighter with the PBL on them, I noticed that immediately.

I went with the PBL since this will be the wife's DD and wanted something that would look good, be durable and not need a lot of attention, but I'm really thinking about using this on my vette when I polish it next. It really brings out the different colors in the metal flakes of the paint which you can't see too well in the photos.

One question I have, along all the tape lines and around gaps I'm kept seeing this very fine light gray dust which I am assuming is extra PBL coating that has dried. It came back a few times in different spots after driving it a while, too. I very carefully inspected the car after applying the Wolfgang and the PBL cleanser to make sure I had nothing in the nooks and crannies, so I'm pretty sure its coating dust. Is this normal? I haven't seen any new dust today so I think it's all gone now.

Nice work and review. Car looks awesome.

Please, 'coat that vette' lol I have my DD coated and just like you said, I don't need to put anything on top of it, however I like doing for 'therapeutical' purposes ahahhaha

And there are no cons on that, in contrary, you can get some wax look for a while, then the wax wash away and you go back to that gorgeous coating look and feel (and beading).

I never saw the 'dust' you're saying, but I must risk it's 'much more' cleansing polish's fault than the coating fault. What do you think?

Thanks for sharing.

Kind Regards.

I applied PBL coatings to my mother-in-laws Rav4 this weekend, that dust is from something else - either the WG FG or PBL Cleansing Polish. It's definitely not from the coatings.

Thanks for the feedback. Maybe I didn't get all the PBL polish off after all.

I have never used a coating. However, those lines you now see after removing the tape are most probably caused by the finishing glaze and the surface cleansing polish. The tape edge caused this buildup. Although I tape off a car in prep to machine polishing, I always remove that tape and clean off the built up polish lines before applying the LSP. I hope others on this forum can give suggestions for removing those tape lines after application of the PBL Coating.

I remove all tape before coating. You can use IPA or CarPro Eraser to remove anything left behind.
