Ok, I have a 2016 Corvette to detail next weekend and have never had to deal with factory painted calipers yet. Anything special I need to do protect these while cleaning? I would hate for something to get on them on fade them out. I plan on hand washing them the best I can without taking the wheel off. Or is there something safe I can spray on them on not worry about it. Any advise would be awesome.

I always use and recommend SONAX wheel cleaners as being both safe and effective.

In fact, last week for our Wednesday night detailing class, I pointed out the RED calipers on the Hennessey Corvette and then told everyone in the class, the reason I use SONAX for these type of "pretty" parts is for the exact concern you have.

Here's the thread,

But just to note, it's a good idea to always wash and then rinse before ANY chemical dries on anything. Just a common sense rule of thumb.

Thanks Mike. I remember looking at that thread last week now that you bring it back up. I will make sure to clean and dry one wheel at the time. I guess its time for another order from AG. MY wife is gonna hurt me if I keep buying stuff. Seems like a new box comes every week.

i used Car Pro Dlux on the wheels and calipers of my 2017 SS 1LE and have not seen near the brake dust on the wheels and calipers that i did see, Seems to be a great product to help with keeping them cleaner from the get go.

i did remove the caliper from the rotor but not off the car and washed it with wheel cleaner and alcohol then Car pro Eraser prior to coating it 2 times.
