Hello all,

I decided to sell my 2014 VW MK7 Gti as it was driving me mad with all the problems and bought a trusty 2016 Honda Accord v6 Sport on 30th December 2015 - that is made for this market.

When I received it, it was night, so it got washed and clayed and sealed. It was only a few days later that I noticed it covered in swirls and scratches.

I decided to detail it as you will see below, enjoy and please comment on where I can improve :)

Products used:

Dealership left a lot of residue and scratches from where the transport wrapping was peeled off especially on the roof:

That flake though...

Thanks for looking :D

Looks great. I really wish the Accord Sport was offered with a V6 in the US. I love the look of the Sport but want a V6 as opposed to the stock 4 cyl. You have to jump up to an EX-L in order to get an available V6. And to get the wheels/tires I like I'd have to go up to the Touring model for even more $$$.

Love powerlock with colorlock on top (2 coats each). Had the car been detailed already by the dealership before you bought it?

These two. :props:

Would have been awesome if the the whole car was captured for bottom photo.

Outstanding work! The flake really explodes now with your TLC. Im sure you will have more work coming your way after others seeing the way it looks.

Nice photography BTW.

Thanks for sharing. I enjoyed the read. :xyxthumbs:

Agreed, I do love the car! And we get different options this side of the world. Hell, the Sedan we get comes from China, while the Coupe comes from the US. Being from China, it has some different options like full LED interior lighting, Electric brake and Auto hold which are quite nice :)

I wish I could get the headlights from the US Touring model as those are gorgeous and so are the fogs. Knowing Honda Middle east they will bring it in as a 2017 - when China decides to update the model - as they just got the US model coupe with those lights (but without the nicer interior lol).

Looks awesome!

Thank you! :D

Very nice.

Thank you! :D

Very nicely done!

Thank you! :D

It may have! I think it did, but it was definitely a half ar**d job. I'm glad I caught the imperfection in the sun while the car was still new :)

Also I would love 2 coats of powerlock, but this weather and not having a fully covered garage makes that so difficult :(

Nice job!

Thank you! :D

Nice job! I love that color!

Thanks man, me too! Its actually a new colour for this car and I fell in love as soon as I saw it.

Thank you so much Mike! Means a lot coming from you :) I have already had some people contact me for their cars, but I'm still a hobbyist and I am scared to tackle other peoples cars. Most people just run away after hearing how much I would charge at a minimum(which is still ridiculously low) because they know a shop that would do it for half(covering what costs I have no idea...dont get me started on labour exploitation here). My experience with said shops is why i started doing this myself lol. :D Also, there isnt much knowledge about car care this side of the world...and that truly sucks as I see Bentleys and Rolls Royces with hammerred paint getting washed at the swirl o matic carwashes or those "eco washes" with a slogan 'Minimal water for a cleaner environment' and then u have the cleaner mist a fine layer of water and wash with a soot soaked cloth LOL!

Either way I really appreciate the encouragement as that is what keeps me going :D

What was wrong with the GTI?

Requote: "What was NOT wrong with the GTI" lol. I had problems since day one. I picked it up with the camera and bluetooth and ipod connections not working. They replaced all 3 units (on a new car) and it still did not work and it took them 3 months and a VW rep from Germany to come down and realise they had a coding error (LOL). This was followed up suspensions squeaks and grinding brakes (all said to be normal....I call bull...). This was followed by a water leak in the hatch which turned my entire roof and liner white. I then had a coolant leak which was a bad thermostat(common problem). This was followed by the car jerking a bit now and then. Once I sold it the guy who bought it called me 2 weeks later and told me the turbo blew (common problem to the GTI and R mk7 and the A3 and S3 from Audi). My car wasnt even tuned or modified in any way which is what makes it ever worse. So many of my friends have had blown turbos, ruined injectors and such on fairly new cars and this a worldwide problem apparently.

This was actually my second GTI (mk6 2012 before this) and had it not been for such a sour experience, I did love many things about the car. But having sufferred from day one, I had this built up hate inside me for the car and had to let it go.

LOL!!! I have that saved somewhere on my phone as a good reminder :P

Car looks amazing what is the color code? In some pictures looks black, then brown or even grey...I thought I liked my 15 modern steel metallic but I really like that color!

Beautiful work!! Made your ride look awesome!! Just curious, I have worked on Honda Paint before and IMO it is soft...very easy and forgiving. The German paints are harder and not so forgiving. Was that the same case for you?

Either way incredible work and thanks for the pics!!
